Wedding dresses..

ABout how far out in advance should I get the dress...or what is not enough time I am working on losing some pounds so I;m trying to hold off as long as possible before really looking (as I dont want to find the dres quite yet)

I think most checklists say to about 8 months before the wedding if you are ordering a dress, which is what you'll do unless you buy at a sample sale.  Your alterations will start roughly 2-3 months before the wedding.  Good Luck!

I'd get your dress 8-12 months before your wedding.  You have no idea if there will be any issues or problems with the order, if your dress will come in on time or be delayed and the alterations (depending on what you ultimately want/need)  may take longer than expected.  If you get a dress with a corset then you can make the dress tighter if you lose weight.  Please keep in mind that planning a wedding is a very stressful time and while you hope to lose weight please don't get discouraged if you don't lose all you wanted.  When our bodies are stressed they add weird.  Some people lose weight and some people gain weight.  Good luck with the dress hunt!!

I would say the same as PP. I ordered mine in January and they said it would be about 6 months until it came in. I understand the wanting to lose weight but you shouldn't wait too long to order the dress. and worst case? You lose the weight you want and have to get alterations done. It's not worth risking the chance that it won't come in on time...

I ordered mine last month. They said it would take 5-6 months to come in and then they start alterations about 2 months before the wedding. So I would say an absolute minimum of 8 months before the wedding. Good luck!

I wouldn't order it closer than 8 months just in case it takes a while to ship. This way you'll have plenty of time to get it and have all the alterations done.
