Do I really need a veil?

I found a beautiful veil to go with my dress, but I really don't want to spend $180 on it.  And....the bridal shop no longer carries it because its discontinued.  I don't really care about having a veil, but my mother is DEAD SET on it.  I am footing the whole bill, and she really didn't like it when I said she could buy it if she wanted me to wear it :)
Anyone else anti-veil??

I was anti-veil until I put one on at my last fitting and it was the whole package together...but this is your day, wear what you want was my moto. In the end I'm glad I had one for church...but it came right off after our formal shots :) What about trying to find a similar one on the classifieds or trash-to-treasure boards for less money? Or eBay?

I wasn't going to wear a veil until my sister put one on my head (against my protests) and I loved it.  But I was not going to pay $200 for it when my dress was only $500.  So I searched the internet (bravobride.com, recycledbride.com, trash to treasure board, ebay) for a month or two.  After being patient and trying to buy three different ones, I finally got one for $80.

You certainly don't need a veil, but you can try to find it used.  Or just tell your mom to stuff it.

I am going into this anti-veil, but I haven't gone dress shopping yet, so we'll see.

My mom said something I thought was interesting. She said that since I'm not getting married in a church, I don't need a veil. Are you getting married in a church? Maybe your mom is saying it for religious reasons? I guess that it must be a church tradition to wear a veil?

I think if you get married in church, its a nice touch to wear one -i borrowed one and it really finished off the whole look -i loved it.....
when i see brides without one, esp ina  church, i always think they look like somethings missing.....but thats just me- its a personal preference :)
again, I would not have spent $180 - some etsy vendors have nice veil reasonably priced.....

I am not wearing a veil, and I'm getting married in a Catholic church.  I never really thought about it much until I put one on as I was trying on dresses, and I realized "nope, no way, this is not for me, take it off!"  All I will have on my head is a tiffany blue colored flower clip (my colors are t.blue, black and white).  It might be a little non traditional, but these days, what's not!  I say do whatever you are comfortable with!  Most brides end up taking the veil off at some point anyways.

Its definitely not religious...no church, my dad is Catholic but my mom is Jewish!  I have looked on ebay and a bunch of other sites mentioned, but I cannot find it.  It was indeed gorgeous, but I think my dress could stand on its own without it! If I find it somewhere, I may buy it. Otherwise....veil-less

Also check out Occansey Bridal online. They often have sale veils on their website.
