Venue Help

Hi All. Engaged in November and desperately looking for a venue for Sunday September 2nd 2012. So far we have looked at Harrington Farms, Glen Magna, Danversport Yacht Club, Harvard Fruitlands Museum, and Gore Place. We loved the Fruitlands Museum but are struggling with using their exclusive caterer. My fiance and I are looking for a combo ceremony and reception site with the ceremony outside. Guest list would be 180 with a cost of no more than $20,000. If anyone has suggestions I would appreciate it!

Re: Venue Help

  • I'm not sure if the pricing would be right for you but Nashoba winery is a beautiful venue with a nice view of the area too- I liked it more than Harvard Fruitlands. You might also try Apple Hill Farm in Leominster. As long as you have an outdoor wedding, the location is beautiful. I'm just not a huge fan of their indoor reception area- it's too rustic for my tastes. Zukas Hilltop Barn in Spencer would be worth a look see too.
  • I would try Groveland Fairways! They have 3 caterers so no worries if you don't click with one of them.  Also they have a beautiful outdoor space for the ceremony as well as an equally gorgeous indoor space separate from the main room that you eat dinner in.  Also you get it the whole day so no worries about it raining and having no backup plan for the ceremony.  Also Liz has been amazing to work with so far and the owners are very nice!

  • If you're open to NH, Castleton in Windham, NH is wonderful and completely in that price range.  Its on the water and has beautiful picture opportunities.  Dawn and Stephanie are awesome.
  • Ocean View Inn in Gloucester, Rockport Art Museum in Rockport, Tavern on the Harbor in Gloucester, Crowne Plaza in Danvers, Salem Waterfront Hotel in Salem, Hawthorne Hotel in Salem.
  • We went and looked at the Elks at Bass Rocks in Gloucester after someone here suggested it.... we fell in love with it and are having our wedding there.  It is located on the back shore in Gloucester directly on the ocean.  We are having our ceremony outside on the front lawn overlooking the ocean and the reception will be held inside.  The room is big and can hold up to 200 I believe and it the walls on 3 sides are all windows so you have a beautiful ocean view throughout your event.  They do require that you use one of their caterers but there are 6 to choose from and they vary greatly in price range so there will be something to fit your budget.  I do know that as of the weekend before Christmas which is when we visited that they had your date available!!! Stacey, the even coordinator is FANTASTIC!  Good luck!
  • Thanks so much for the suggestions! I'm definitely going to check them out!!
