BYOB?

I'm 3 weeks engaged now and I've got to admit that I have no idea what I want!  I'm still at the stage of exploring my options.  One thing I was wondering was if anyone knew of any reception venues that allows you to bring your own beer & wine?  We would love to offer guests an open bar but realistically we probably won't be able to afford it.  I've got some connections that could give me a really good price on beer and wine but I don't know of any reception venues that allow it.  Any ideas?  We will probably get married in Stoughton, MA so we're looking to hold the reception somewhere within that area (Canton, Dedham, Foxboro, Bridgewater, etc.).  Thanks!!

My sister got married at Willowdale, and they let you. And one of my BM's is getting married at the Commondant's House in Charlestown and that's allowed there too as well. Neither one is exactly in your area - but I think this sort of deal is hard to come by (I know my venue was under a strict contract with the catering company, so it was an absolute no-no, so we paid an additional price per person to have the open bar all night). Good luck!

I think Hamilton Hall in Salem does.

IF you look on some of the catering sites they might have a list.

I agree that I think Hamilton Hall does.  I'm pretty sure The Commons in Topsfield does too...

My venue does - it's a bit outside of your area (Rehoboth), but they'll let you bring in any caterer and any bar you want!  www.fivebridgeinn.com

PS - Congrats on your engagement! Tell us your story! :)

Our friends got married and had reception in October at the Endicott Estate in Dedham.  They got to bring in their own alcohol and caterers!!  It's gorgeous and affordable there.  I'd check it out.

Our venue allows you to bring in your own alcohol too. It is the Codman Estate in Lincoln, MA right next to Waltham. It is very affordable there, the rental fee was super cheap! We love the gardens and the setting there.

I am so glad I found your question!! I am looking into the same thing for my wedding and have been having a hard time as well. Does anyone have any suggestions for the Lowell Area in Massachusetts (Lowell, Andover, Chelmsford, Tewksbury, Billerica, Haverhill, Lawrence...)

    Thank you!

I think BYOB goes by town and not venue.  I know Topsfield allows it so most of the venues in that town offer it.

Some estates and places without a food service license will let you do it as well since they are just renting you the space, but may require you to hire a professional bartender for insurance purposes.
