Retired Priest

Hello!

I've heard that only a retired priest will marry you outside of the church, does anyone know where i could find one?

Thanks!

Are you talking about the Catholic Church? You would need permission from the Bishop to have a marriage ceremony outside.

Why does a Catholic wedding have to take place in a church?

For Catholics, marriage is not just a social or family event, but a church event. For this reason, the Church prefers that marriages between Catholics, or between Catholics and other Christians, be celebrated in the parish church of one of the spouses. Only the local bishop can permit a marriage to be celebrated in another suitable place.

Not sure what you're looking for, but our JP was a former priest.  His name is Tom Welch and we loved working with him (review in bio)

I think it depends on which person you are dealing with.  I know our priest wouldn't do it, but I have been to weddings outside done by ministers from different churches.
