We are looking at the Red Lion Inn in Cohasset for our ceremony and reception. Has anyone had their wedding there or been to a wedding there. Just trying to get some feedback on how it is.
I went to a wedding there on 10.10.10. it is a beautiful venue, very rustic and just a pretty place. The only thing i would say is that the dancefloor is very narrow, so depending on the # of guests you have it could be a tight squeeze...i think the wedding I went to had the maximum # of tables set so it felt a little tight but once you're on the dancefloor you hardly even notice
I'm in the middle of planning my wedding with the red lion. We had our tasting yesterday - the food is great. So far planning has been very smooth and I'm very happy with our decision. Our wedding is April 30th, so still a way out... We are having a small group - 80 guests max and doing both the ceremony and reception in the barn.
Knotties from the previous year/year and a half had a very difficult time with the planning process/staff but in the end were very happy with their weddings.
Since seprincipe says that her planning has been smooth sailing, I guess we can assume that they got their act together.
we were married at the RLI in February of last year --- while the planning process was difficult to put it nicely (we went through 4 coordinators, every banquet event order needed to be corrected)
our wedding day, the food and the service day-of was amazing --- I do hope that they have gotten their act together over the last year...it is a such beautiful, unique venue...feel free to PM me if you have any questions...GL!
EDIT: we had 180 guests and never felt that the dance floor was narrow and we even had a 10 piece band...we did use every bit of floor space in order to seat all of the guests on the bottom floor --- people didn't feel squished or packed in...at least from the feedback we got -- even from those in the corners
I figured they were having some trouble with their wedding coordinators, I acutally interviewed there for the position over a year ago but ended up taking another job. The woman we met with already seems to be very organized and on top of things. I am going again this weekend for a second tour. The only thing that has upset me is that we were never told there were any minimums until the other day which puts a big kink in our plans. We are hoping for a Saturday May 2012 but the minimum is so high that my 140ish guest list would never make it with open bar included.
Serprincipe, were there any minimums for your April 30th wedding?
I got mine waived by quite a bit (I'm spending more than 50% less than what their minimums are). I didn't know anything about minimums until I got the contract with them x'ed out and my new minimums written in. I'm also not doing an open bar (we have a beer and wine until $500 worth has been consumed) and they were running a 30% off food prices deal when I booked (June of 2010).
we also had a minimum that was reduced b/c we booked a year in advance for a Sunday in February --- it is definitely worth negotiating that, if you do choose to go with the RLI
just a warning --- make sure you double and triple check any contract with them...we had to review each of our bills when making payments b/c we were overcharged, wrong menu items were listed on our BEO and they charged us twice for the rental of all the rooms at the inn for the night of wedding
Interesting, I wonder if the times you booked, they were trying to get more business and now from what they have told me that they are super busy. I would love to have it on Saturday wedding, just easier for OOT guest, I guess we will see what we can do on Saturday.
