Locust Grove/Mt Guilian?

I am at the beginning stages of wedding planning, and I'm looking for something a little different than your normal wedding/banquet hall. The two places that keep catching my eye are Locust Grove and Mt Guilian.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has attended weddings at either of these locations, or if they themselves wed there or at least looked at them.
Also, if anyone knows round about cost of renting these sites that would be great!

Any information would be appreciated. Have a Happy and beautiful Saturday :)

Hello! My cousin is getting married at Locust Grove in Nov. She told me that nothing is included. So they had to pay for everything, caterer, chairs, tables, centerpieces, etc. However, it is a gorgeous property. They fell in love with it the first time they went there, and knew thats where they wanted to get married. They weren't worries about a budget. Their whole wedding is costing about $20K - and she is a DIY Bride. So, even with that, she is spending a pretty penny.

Mt. Gulian - I actually looked at when I was thinking about places. Online it looks pretty cool. But then I drove there, and I wasn't impressed. You have to drive through an apartment complex to get to it. So, if you are standing in the front, you look to the right, and there are crappy looking apartments. It really takes away from the beauty of the place. Its unfortunate.

It really depends on what you like, and what you can afford. My opinion is for you to go to the places, and look for yourself. You might fall in love with Mt. Gulian. As said before, the apartments were the kicker for me, and turned me off.

Hopefully you will find something you like. There is also the Belvedere Mansion in Rhinebeck. Its different, and beautiful. If you don't care about getting married on a weekday, there is a special for $65pp. Really nice! You should look into that too!

    Hope that helps!! Laughing

I looked at Locust Grove and I don't recall exactly what the rental fee was but it was a few grand and as PP said I don't think it included anything really.

I'm getting married at Locust Grove in May and it cost $5,000 to rent the property for a ceremony and reception on a Saturday. It's $4,000 for just the reception and I think even less if you book a Friday or a Sunday. The fee includes tables and chairs and any caterer you hire should provide the rest of the necessities (food, napkins, silverware, etc.)

Thank you all for the wonderful information. I did drive to Mt Guilian because I live right in Beacon, and I loved the way it looked online, but the location is sucky. I figured Locust Grove would cost more than I'd like to spend, but figured I'd put out the feelers.
    Thanks again girls!
