WWYD

Ok. So we were told last months that there a going ot be some layoffs that will effect my dept. They said that it wouldn't be a huge layoff and that it would happen in late Jan early Feb. I am trying not to worry and everyone is telling me I have nothing to worry about including my direct manager (but she's not calling the shots). I have a good rep and i am a hard worker but I can't help but worry. If I lose my job and don't find another one within a month or two, I don't think I will be able to afford the wedding. Dress shopping with the bm's is Jan 16 and I just got my dave the dates in.
Questions: Would you hold off on dress shopping and std's to see what is going on at work or would you not put anything on hold?

This happened to me about 7 months before the wedding... We proceeded as planned.  You WILL find something if (and this may not even happen) you do get layed off, and everything will work out.  It may not be the ideal situation, but things will work out!! :)

    Good luck, hun!

If it makes you feel better to hold off on sending save the dates and BM dress shopping until you know for sure, do what makes you comfortable. But the pp ladies have some very good advice. You don't want to put your entire life on hold, everything has it's way of working out. Hang in there!

I personally would proceed as planned for now, and wait and see what happens down the road.  Sounds like you are an ideal employee and I'm sure you're going to be just fine.

I would continue with your plans- like you said, there is no reason that you should be worried right now, it sounds like no one has any answers. If the need arises, or even now, you can prioritize aspects of your wedding to cut costs, maybe cutting out something like programs or saving instead of splurging on shoes, etc. You also don't want to find out in three months that your job is safe and then be three months behind on your planning!
