Food Tasting Question.....

Hi ladies,

its just occurred to me when I was thinking about orgnanising our tasting with the hotel....does the food at the tasting really come out the same on your wedding day? in other words, is the food they cook for the couple to taste on par with the food cooked for 150 at a wedding? any one have an experience with the food being different?
bad food is my nightmare scenario......

thanks in advance!

Well, I can't speak about my venue since I'm not married yet, but I can tell you from my experience at working with a reception hall for years out in Western MA that the tasting food was typically better than the wedding dinner.  Just the logistics of cooking for a few people vs a few hundred people.  Or a hundred people.  That wasn't to say the food was bad!  Not at all.  Just not as perfect as at the tasting.  But that was just my experience with that one venue.

I mean, I think there is a real possibility a meal cooked for one is not going to hold up as well as a meal cooked for 150. I think the thing you need to take away from the tasting are the foods you prefer, not necessarily the projected quality.

My venue invited all of the wedding couples for 2010 to one big tasting.  It was a one shot deal, if you missed it, you missed out on tasting the food.  While that may have been hard for some people to plan for, my fiance and I loved it.  We got to chat with lots of other wedding couples, and also they cooked for more than 100 people so the food we tasted should be on par with what they serve at our wedding.

Our tasting was during another wedding so we were having the food that was being cooked for the 150 people upstairs... so essentially it tasted exactly the same for us on our wedding day.
