Black/Cream wedding colors - need an accent color?

Hi everyone!

Second post!!! I'm Molly (live in New York but originally from just outside of Boston and we're planning our October 2012 wedding in Boston) and I've been engaged for just over a month now.

My wedding colors are black and ivory (my dress will probably be ivory/cream, haven't found the one yet but white doesn't look great with my skin tone) and my bridesmaids in black. I want to keep everything fairly elegant/timeless but I'm thinking maybe we need an accent color (plus my MIL to be keeps saying it's going to be so dull). Has anyone had a black/white wedding? Did you add a color? Did you miss having a color? I don't want to do orange as I think it would be a little halloweeny!!!

  • Hi! Definitely check out The Perfect Palette. It's a great resource on colors. :)

You can take a look at different combos of black, white, and accent colors and I'm pretty sure there are just some black and white only ones.

    Good luck!
  • Personally I think a bright color might really pop against black and cream.  Teal, hot pink, etc might look really nice.

  • I'm in a similar boat--I'm using Navy and Cream and people give me a weird look when I don't have a third color. Depending who asks, I say green (using white, green and blue hydrangeas) or gold (chairs at reception are chiavari gold) or even light blue (invites have a lighter shade of blue).

Basically--your whole wedding won't be white and black, but you'llb e surprised you might find inspiration in the other colors at your venue or your flowers.

Also another good site for inspiration is stylemepretty.com-- I LOVE it!

    Good luck!
