e-pics in boston

My FI and I are having our engagement photos taken next month and we really want to have them done in Christopher Columbus Park (north end area, near Tia's restuarant). I know I've seen posts before about permits and wedding photographs being done in the Public Garden, but the City of Boston's website seems to only state that a permit is needed for "weddings and wedding photographs"..meaning ceremonies and wedding photos. I really don't want to get kicked out, but I guess I should let the photographer worry about that.

    Hi,

We just took pics afew weeks ago in that area. We didn't have a problem at all. I wouldn't worry about it. Have fun!

Ooo you did? Was it busy/crowded? I love the covered trellis and fountain but I'm worried with the good weather and on a Saturday there will be people everywhere.

I would think if you go early there won't be so many people-- like before noon when Joe's American Bar and Grill starts to really fill up.

We only took a few there...we started at South Station walking and ended up  on Hanover Street. We were there on Good Friday and weather was great so people were out but not too many that it was a distraction. I wouldn't worry about crowds, leave it up to your photographer to get the good shots minus the extra people!!  We were having so much fun we didn't even realize there were people around us.

If you go early morning or late afternoon you can probably avoid crowds and you get better lighting.

Yeah, we're going at 3pm to avoid "harsh sun" ...good thing too because I burn easily!

we are doing our e-pics in the public gardens but are not getting a permit; however we will get the public gardens permit for the wedding day...if we get kicked out for e-pics it isn't the end of the world since there are other spots... i think you are fine not getting a permit for e-pics - but if they are your actual wedding day pics i would get the permit
