Going to Greece soon!

So any last tips we should know about Greece? Were going to Athens,Santorini, and Mykonos. Anything you didn't pack but wish you did. Anything you did but was not worth the money or the time? How is the water in Greece calm? Anything we must see and not miss. Let me know curious. Thanks.

We stopped in Athens when we were on our hm in July.  It was hot as hell then, not sure how it is now.  We went on a tour to see the Acropolis.  It was pretty cool, although you can't touch anything.  If you go, you should probably have a guide.  We had one, but she wasnt that good.  She just explained the history at the top and then let us wander around.  It would have been nice to have someone explain the different structures at each one.

I'm so jealous!! When we went the same time last September it was really nice out- high 70's- low 80's. Athens is dirty, it's a city. You go for  the history so definitely go see the Acropolis/Parthenon. We also went to Delphi which was really cool. Santorini you really can't go wrong with just hanging out, going to tavernas. We did go to a black sand beach but I was not really impressed. Are you in Oia Santorini, which hotel did you decide on? We had lovely dinners and lunches and breakfasts, laid out by the pool, and just gazed at the sea. I found a little bakery where we purchased baklava and it was amazing!! Walked around Oia and all the little shops and churches. The place is truly amazing!! Have fun!!

Also, if your taxi driver in Athens is John (Petros usually hires his service). He is really nice, he took me and my husband on a 6 hour roundtrip ride to see Thermopylae (my husband wanted to step on the ground that the Spartans did) hahaha (the movie 300 is about this if you are not sure what it is) Tell John, Laura and Jeff said hello and we can't wait to come back (if he doesn't remember just tell him we are the couple he took to Thermopylae last year <:).

I went to Mykonos, Athens and Santorini5 yrs ago....it was an amazing time! Are you doing the tour(I think we took Gate 1 tours)? Anyhow, Athens is nice to see for the history- check out the subway/metro- when they were trying to build the underground system they ended up discovering tons of archeology/artifacts. The plaka is fun but beware of pickpocketers (ie. don't have your husband put wallet in back pocket)! My dad got his wallet stolen on the train and didn't even know it (they are skilled)

Mykonos is a windy but PARTY HARTY island. It's beautiful- have dinner at the Little Italy or Little Venice it's called. Cute pelicans.

But the most beautiful island out there is Santorini...BREATHTAKING and so romantic. If you are staying at Oia (definitely have to go there either way), there is a famous spot to see the sunset (tons of couples flock there; get there early but totally worth it). The most beautiful sunsets you've seen in your life. You have to ride on the donkey, walk around the windy little streets/shops and DEFINITELY take the boat tour that takes you to the volcano, jump out into the hot spas (you have to swim a bit to get there; it's warm not hot), drink ouzo with music....

I am Greek and went with my friend yrs ago but hope to go there for my honeymoon  with FI next yr to share the beauty with him! Good luck, enjoy!

I had all dresses and shorts, bring one pair of jeans and definitely a sweater or two. I never wore my jeans, just a sweater over my dress.

We did Athens, Mykonos and Santorini this past June.  We brought an adapter with us.  We got a little set from Brookstone and it was definitely worth it.  We used it for our phones, ipad, cameras and hair dryer. There weren't any adapters in our rooms but we also didn't ask the hotels if they could provide us with one since we brought our own.

We stayed in the Astra Suites in Santorini as well! They are super nice and accommodating.  Once we got there they helped us rent a car, set up day trips and transportation to airport.  It was beautiful.

It's hard to explain the set up but basically everything is built into the cliffs so there will be a lot of stairs and walking to get to and from Astra.  Bring a good comfortable pair of shoes.  I packed heels for going out at night but I didn't need them at all.

I way over packed and wish I hadn't because the extra baggage fees were ridiculous.  I did wear pants a few nights and needed a hoodie when hanging out outside at night.

Momo where you stay in Mykonos? And Athens?  I guess I better pack as light as possible because of the stairs . This should be interesting trying to pull lugage up the stairs. Oh my. When we stay at Astra suites. Where did you go that you thought was fabulous and your recommend?
