wedding gown preservation

Anyone have their wedding gown cleaned and preserved? If so, where and for how much?

Not going to bother. I read a post recently, can't remember where, that it was a waste of money and the people who had it done regretted it. If you remove it from the box, you void your waranty, so there's no way of knowing if it was properly cleaned or stored. Besides, your daughter (if you have one) probably isn't going to wear it, so I wouldn't worry about saving it. And I don't think it's worth the $200 companies around here charge.

I was annoyed when I found out it was going to cost me over $200 to preserve my dress.  I think it such a scan.  My mother has her dress from 42 years ago in the original garment bag and it just fine.  I think I save my 200 for something useful.

I paid $100 to have my dress cleaned after our Rock the Frock (it was like 100 degrees that day, and so it got sweaty & filthy!) at my local dry cleaner (Wal-Lex cleaners in Waltham).

They offer "preservation services" where they put it in the box at the end, but I just had them put it back on a hanger.  For now I put it back on the original hanger & in the garment bag it came in, but I plan on making my own garmet bag out of a plain white sheet to keep the dust off (I feel like if I ever want to do anything with it in the future it will keep the white silk from yellowing better than a plastic garment bag will)--I just haven't taken the time to stitch up a sheet yet.

I have heard good things about WedClean if you decided to preserve it--it's only like $100, but really all the options are only valuable if you really plan on doing something with the dress in the future.
Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)
