Looking for DJ

I would like to budget between $500-700. We don't want lighting, fog, etc. - just a basic (really fun but not over the top) MC/DJ for the cocktail and reception.  

I found DJ RonnieB, The Sound Station, and Locomotion DJ to name a few.  I don't know if any of these are good. I noticed CZone, Beat Train, and NUIMAGE are listed in several discussions.  There are so many out there I don't know who to choose...any suggestions on how to pick one?

    we used beat train and i highly recommend them... they do more of a night club feel without your normal cheesey wedding dj tradition which is what we wanted... definitely worth checking out IMHO!

    My DJ is $700 for 5 hours.....they are fairly new to the industry, but they have DJ'd a bunch of events I have attended and were great!  It's Mix Tape Entertainment.

    PS. NuImage is great but wayyy expensive-my friend was quoted $2600, and got them down to $1900!!

    I used Get Down Tonight Entertainment out of New Hampshire.  They were very reasonable.  I used Jeff Stone and was very happy.

    I had a really hard time picking a DJ- I interviewed what felt like a million of them.  I felt like I needed someone that had my same taste in music (you don't).  When I met with Jeff I felt totally comfortable, he was able to talk through what my concerns were and how he would address them.  We ended up talking for almost an hour and I felt like he "got" what kind of wedding I wanted.  Sometimes it takes time
