Band/DJ- where to start???

I have no idea where to even start :( We are looking to try to have a band that has a DJ also, but definitely a DJ. We want someone thats great but not outrageously priced. Our wedding is in Falmouth and we come from the South Shore. I have no clue where to start. Any recommendations?? TIA :)

hmm...this is a tough one but it may only be me, but I've never seen a live band turn into a DJ in the middle of a wedding or event without hiring the two separate vendors, it does sound interesting...

I would suggest reaching out to bands if that is really what you want --- it took us a few months and numerous visits to see different bands play live for us to find the perfect band to play at our wedding. But we were both set from the beginning that we wanted a band over a DJ.

You could also reach out to entertainment companies --- Wilson Stevens comes to mind to see if they have a band / DJ mix that would work for you since they rep both bands and DJs. GL in your planning --- and keep us posted!

We went to a BE weddings "open house" at the Hard Rock cafe in Boston. We were able to hear a few bands and DJ's and talk to them in person. I think I saw the ad for the open house in one of my Boston bridal magazines but I'm sure you could find them online. It might be a good place for you to start since the same company has both bands and DJ's.

We paid $1200 for DJ Ryan Foley and he worked our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. I would highly recommend him. Our dance floor was packed all night.

We are using Paul Giroux Entertainment for our DJ. They are included with our venue price, so I am not sure how much they usually charge but I have heard nothing but great things about them. I have talked to a couple people I know who have been to weddings they DJ'ed at and they have told me that the dance floor was packed all night long. I am pretty sure they are from down on the South Shore because our wedding is in Norwood and this is their preferred vendor.

For a DJ I'd recommend John Cristoferi.  He's $800 for five hours.  He's out of Brockton, so I imagine would go down to the cape.
