Mailed Invitations & Postage increase

Hi everyone,

We mailed our wedding inviations on Saturday!  Can't wait to start to get responses!

But I just wanted to let you ladies know - in case you are unaware like I was - postage went up on the higher weighted pieces (like most weddding inviattions).  I guess it might be for after an ounce??  Anyway, I weighed my whole invitation like you are supposed to at the post office about 3 weeks ago and bought .61 cent stamps for the outer envelopes like they told me.  BUT it turns out postage went up by 3 cents two weeks ago so each envelope needed 64 cents in postage on the outside.  Anyway, it all worked out but I wanted to share the info with you for anyone who is mailing invites soon - make sure they tell you the correct amount of postage that you will need.

First class is still .44 cents for the regular mail (ie response cards).  Nothing changed there.

Where did you get your stamps??  I'm thinking about ordering different personalized stamps, but I could just be going crazy! Thanks

I didn't do personalized stamps.  Sounds like a nice idea.  We just got the stamps at the post office.  The 61cent stamp is cute because it has a little wedding cake on it... but we had to add the 3 cent stamp to the envelope too because of the postage increase.

That's unfortunate that they did not tell you about this increase when you bought your stamps. They should have known. Two months ago I went to two post office locations and at both places they told me that "sometime soon/most likley mid-late April" anything over an ounce would be going up to 64 cents. I purposely waited for them to increase so I wouldn't have to add extra postage.
I meant to post about the increase when I found out but it slipped my mind. Now I wish I did becuase maybe it would've saved you the hassle...  :(
