New York-Hudson Valley

Hudson Valley wedding help

My fiance and I are getting married in October 2011 and love the hudson valley area.  My husband to be is a chef so food is top priority.  I would like a venue with a riverview.  We're looking to spend about $25k on the wedding venue.  Can anyone provide some recommendations?

I'm not sure how far north you are looking to go, but our venue, The Grandview (Poughkeepsie) has a gorgeous riverview, and the food is wonderful!

Glen Island Harbour Club has great food but is on the Long Island Sound, not the Hudson River.  Our guests loved the venue for the view as well as the food.

I second the Grandview which is where I'm getting married.  I looked at Dutchess Manor and personally didn't like it as much but it's worth a look.  If you want to bring in your own food you might want to check out Locust Grove, but the view of the river is pretty limited there (although the grounds are beautiful).

I'm getting married in Oct 2011 as well and it's a very popular month, especially in the Hudson Valley because of the foliage so you might want to start contacting venues ASAP.  The Grandview might be all booked up.  I booked with them in Sept and there were very limited options at The Grandview even then.

I think the Grandview and Dutchess Manor are both great options.

Can't recommend my venue as there was no riverview.

In Rockland County, you may want to look into View on the Hudson in Piermont or The Nyack Seaport in Nyack.

Thank you everyone!  What about The Garrison?  Someone recently mentioned that they were under construction.

Hudson Highlands, The Garrison, Chalet on the Hudson, Dutchess Manor. Locust Grove and The Grandview all go along the Hudson River. And all are beautiful venues! And all have good food!

But like pp said, October is prime time - you are probably limited on the available Saturdays. Start calling asap!

    Good luck!

If you are looking for a great venue w/ the Hudson River view, check out Oak Hill, Livingston Estate. It's located just outside Hudson, NY near the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. It's absolutely worth a look & I'm pretty sure it's under your budget.
  • I am having my wedding in April at Dutchess Manor. The food is great and they are a bit cheaper than the grandview.  Plus my wedding ceremony is at a church in fishkill so it is closer.  The owners are great to work with and a lot of stuff like the flower centerpieces, colored napkins, direction cards and the cake from pastry garden is included in the price. They are also letting me setup my own cookie table (family tradition) for no charge.
    hope this helps.
