Boston visit

Hi Ladies,

I am trying to plan a trip to Boston in late-April. I was actually born there and have never had the opportunity, until now, to return. I don't want to come there with out a small agenda. What are some nice but not very pricey hotels? Restaurants? Must sees in the city? Will we need a car or is the public trans there pretty reliable? I looked on Expedia but of course they gave me 100's of hotels but I think getting info from people who live there would be a lot more help.

TIA!!
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image

Tia - how exciting!  Is your new husband coming along? Late April is a beautiful time to come to Boston (we will keep our fingers crossed for you for dry weather).

There are SOOOO many great places in the area, I really like the Boston Harbor Hotel (puts you very close to the aquarium, North End, Fanieul Hall, etc) and it is a beautiful hotel.  The Intercontintenal is very close by as is Marriott Long Wharf.

If you like Italian, you must visit the N. End - my all time favorite is Mamma Maria's.  Our Chinatown is great too (esp. dim sum (think small plates) on weekend mornings).

We have lots of great museums (the ICA is close to the hotel I mentioned above) which is really great if you like modern art.  You can walk the Freedom Trail or take a Duck Boat Tour (I've still never done this in 10 years - eek!)

There are also a bunch of colleges / universities nearby if you're interested in any of that history (I live in Cambridge - where Harvard and MIT are).

I've lived here for 10 years, so if you have any questions, feel free to PM me :)

Oh, and if you stay downtown, you will not need a car.  The T is great and very inexpensive :)
