Venue Help!

Having a very hard time choosing a venue! We live in the Boston area and are looking to do a little getaway type of wedding. We don't want to go more than 2 hours away but less would be better as most of our guests will be coming from the Boston area as well. We are looking for something with a really nice outdoor ceremony spot, on/near some sort of body of water would be ideal but not a must. One thing that we would really like is to have lodging onsite or at the very least VERY close by, We have looked at Church Landing @Mill Falls on Lake Winnipesaukee and I LOVED it but we want to do June and they only had May available. Any suggestions?

I'm having my wedding at the Publick House in Sturbridge so I'm a little biased

    http://www.publickhouse.com/
Its 1 hour from Boston. The outdoor ceremonies are beautiful - the grounds are amazing. Theres no water. BUT!, the Publick House itself is an Inn. My family and some out of town guests from NJ are planning to stay there. I beleive there are 92 guest rooms? AND the bride and groom get a bridal suite FOR FREE (with a 15K wedding of course) the night of. It's a very rustic and country venue - so if you're not into that it's probably not for you.

Budget wize - I'm paying the Publick house around 12k - I'm getting 8 appetizers, 3 course meal with 3 meal choices, a cake, and an open bar. I feel like they are a really great value.

Another beautiful outdoor venue I looked into is the Fruitlands Museum - http://www.fruitlands.org/ . The pictures speak for themself, it really is a gorgeous venue for an out door wedding - the reason we didn't go with it was budget, and becuase there wasn't any onsite hotel.

You can try Castleton in Windham, NH about 45 mins to an hour from Boston. It is by a pond and there's a Holiday Inn and La Quinta about 5 mins driving.

cssmit- Great suggestion. Thanks! How many guests are you having, if you dont mind me asking. That sounds like a great price!

I am expecting to have around 150.

And we are considering the Cape as well, we are actually going to look at the Coonamessett inn in Falmouth this weekend.

I looked at the Mass Horticultural Society in Wellesley. The outdoor options are gorgeous. It's a huge area and your wedding would be the only event that day!

My brother got married at White Cliffs Country club in Plymouth, MA and it was GORGEOUS!   http://www.whitecliffscc.com/

it was easy to get to...had hotels close by and you can get married right on the water.  He ended up having raina nd hurricane strength winds on his wedding and they moved it inside.  It was still beautiful....to the point that most guests had no idea it was supposed to be outside.

    check it out! :)

We got married on Sandy Beach in Cohasset and had our reception at the Atlantica Restuarant 5 min down the road.  They have a hotel right next door to the restaurant.  It's on the harbor and gorgeous.  It's about 30 min south of Boston.

One of my friends got married at Ocean Edge Resort in the Cape and it was by far my favorite wedding! They have so many options and it's beautiful! We stayed the night and prices were really reasonable (we had a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, laundry, and shuttle to the wedding). It was so nice a lot of people stayed longer! http://www.oceanedge.com/

My FI and I are a second away from signing our contract with Nantasket Beach Resort in Hull. They have a hotel attached and with our wedding venue they have valet parking etc. The woman Mary Santuosso has been wonderful and very willing to work with you and your budget etc. The Surf Ballroom is surrounded by windows overlooking the water. Not sure about beachside ceremony but there are options very locally for gazebos. Good Luck!
