MA average wedding cost

I saw a local photographer posted this on her facebook and thought it was interesting. What do you think? Do you find these averages to be similar to yours?

I'd have to agree with some of it... DJ I've been getting about 1000-1600 and Photog from 2500-5000. My venue is Saphire Estate and it's about 68 a plate I believe, expecting maybe 200 so - that's almost 14 right there?

That's a pretty good estimate.  We fall right in there.  And that's with a great deal on the venue!  (I'd rather use the moolah as a down payment on a house ;)

No DJ....iPod and speakers instead. Photographer 1,100. Venue free. Going to be about $5,000 total. It can be elegant and inexpensive, in these difficult times.

I'd agree with that, although the only thing that they don't include there is liquor! Our food costs about what they have, but liquor adds another $3-4k on there. I know some brides don't need to spend that, but I'm determined to have open bar, so I'm skimping on videographer and found a great husband/wife couple for photographer that is below the estimate on that site.

I'd say that is a good breakdown!

I am doing a limited open bar for the wedding.  Its on St Patrick's Day so I have to be careful sending people to drive after.  I am doing beer and wine, 3 dink max.....

I'd say it's pretty close to what we are spending, although with taxes and service fees we are spending more like $18k on our reception, which doesn't inlcude alcohol. My DJ and videographer came in a little under, as did my florist and dress.

It seems a little low to me, although the percentages seem about the same.

It seems low to you?  I can't IMAGINE spending that kind of money on a 1 day affair....I know I am completely the exception.  In these hard economic times I don't see spending that kind of money for one day.  To me its all about the marriage and NOT the wedding.  I am feeling all kinds of pressure to do certain things that I just won't do because its what is expected.  You can be just as elegant on a budget.....I am proof!
