Wedding favor ideas needed

Hey All!

I am new here.  Getting married Sept. 29, North of the city.  We are planning a beachy wedding & I am looking for some favor ideas.

It's a small wedding (only 75 guests), we are looking to spend around $5/guest.  I'm really into the hand-made/locally-made stuff & have been searching Etsy for something creative & affordable & haven't found a thing I like!

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

I never take favors unless they are edible. Probably not the answer you are looking for but don't put too much thought into this.

Ditto TheSlowskys. Stuff usually gets left behind and then you're stuck with cleaning it up. I did chocolates from a company that's local to where my parents live and everyone loved them.

Hmmm.....my family is very traditional that way, I guess.  They want to give something, so I need to pick something to give.  I am going to see if I can find a local candy company or cookie maker to do something up.

In the mean time, I have these 3 things saved at back-ups. (don't know if the links will work)

    1-These w/ some candies inside:

2- Some type of clay ornement like this:

    3- key chain:

I'm leaning towards #3 as my back up...but need to decide soon, so I can order.  Gah....it's the stupid little wedding decisions that kill me.  :-)

I would check out Harbor Sweets....they are located in Salem, MA and do awesome handmade chocolates.  They have a lot of chocolate shapes that would fit with your beachy theme too!

Go local!  I'm a big fan of edible treats and local is even better.  A couple more places...

    1. Blue Tierra Chocolate in South Boston - amazing work and delciious, too!

    2.  (This is what we are thinking of doing since we are Catholic and live in the area!) - These nuns make candy out in Wrentham http://shop6.mailordercentral.com/trappistinecandy/

    3.  Necco Wafers - a local company, even though they no longer have their awesome building and have moved elsewhere.

    4.  Mike's Pastry apparently does weddings so your guests can take home a cannolli (If I saw this at a wedding, I would talk about it for the next ten years!)

    5.  Jars of local honey (don't have a specific vendor, but just a thought)

    6.  My friends had flavored popcorn bags (they also served as the centerpiece) - Kettle Boys in York Beach, ME

Clearly I agree that favors are best when edible!

Ok, I am older so I don't know if I am just out of the in thing or not.
I like the ornament and was actually thinking of doing an ornament and also something sweet, probably choc. covered pistacios or cranberries from a local place.  Whenever me and FI travel , we get an ornament to remember the trip and I was going to write something to that effect and put it in the box (yada yada yada...for remembering our wedding).  I am doing different favors for the kids and college kids, but am going to try to se the same packaging so it is uniform.  And I am going to do the favors by couple, maybe as place cards.  I wouldn't go the key chain route.  I also looked at starfish bottle openers (FI is air traffic controller and those guys like to party...haha) and wine stoppers, they were pretty inexpensive.  But I agree, the little things are what drive you nuts!  I'd love to know what you decide to go with.

The bags would be cute with some candy.

I actually really like the key chain and I would want to take that (But I would probably forget it), however the ring looks like it might be cheap.

I wouldn't put up an ornament with someone else's initials.

Whatever it is just be prepared for a lot of leftovers.  Having 40 people leave chocolate behind = awesome.  Having 40 people leave a key chain or ornament behind = not awesome.

Oh....I am liking the ornament too.  Maybe I can do something similar, but not personalized?

Maybe I can order just 1 keychain & see what the quality is?

Edible favors are the best.  I had a friend do chocolate covered oreos for her wedding favor.  BEST FAVOR EVER.  They were the most delicious thing I've ever eaten.
