We made a big mistake and now I'm freaking out

We're having our reception at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront. It just occurred to me today that we didn't block enough rooms at the hotel, not even for our wedding party for the day before!! We were so focused on blocking rooms for the night of the wedding (not to mention negotiating other things about our contract) that we didn't realize how many rooms we would need for the night before, especially when the majority of the wedding party is coming from out of town. We only blocked 10 rooms (DUMB!!) for the Friday before, and already 8 rooms are reserved without any of the groomsmen making reservations. And now when I go to the hotel's website to make a reservation, it says it's sold out! I sent an email to the wedding coordinator at the hotel. Hopefully she'll get back to me tomorrow.

My back up plan is to see if we can get a block of rooms at the Marriott at Copley Square for a better price...

If the hotel can't increase our block of rooms, I will feel so terrible, especially for our wedding party :(

I would also recommend checking out the Marriot Long Wharf.  We have set up an additional room block there as our block at the Seaport is filled.  They have been great to work with.  Our planner also suggested the Westin on the Waterfront as another option in the area.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm working on getting a block set up at the Hyatt Harborside because their price seems to be the best for the location and quality. I'm trying to get something that's affordable for our guests, which is tough in Boston in June!

I also had a room block at the Marriott Long Wharf and I agree with pp, they are great to work with. You don't have to sign a contract like some hotels require so there aren't any financial consequences for you if your guests don't use the room block.

They were also happy to distribute my welcome bags.

I think having a room block at a variety of hotels will be appealing to your friends and family especially if there is a nicer option and a cheaper option. Look on the bright side, some people will want to make a mini vacation out of this, and others might just want to save some money. I agree with the PP, the Long Wharf Marriott is so nice and convenient.

Not a Big mistake!  There are plenty of options in Boston and while it is nice for folks to stay at the same hotel, not everyone opts for that anyway!  If you feel REALLY bad you could offer some sort of car service or bus to take folks back to their hotels, but don't sweat it, sweetie! Trust me there are much BIGGER mistakes you could make (like running off with one of the strippers from the bachelorette party LOL)
