Help with Wedding Venues South of Boston, MA

Hello everyone!

I recently got engaged and was looking for some information on venues. I thought posting on theknot was a good start because I always hear great things from my friends who have used it!

To start any where in Rhode Island or South of Boston for the reception. We're guessing 250 guests give or take. If I could have my dream wedding I would like some sort of water property to be included, lake or ocean (We'll see though, $$).

Any advice or places that people have heard great things about would be so helpful. I have no idea where to begin so I'd love to hear others experiences or word of mouth!

Thanks!!

I'm getting married at The Villa at Ridder Country Club in East Bridgewater, MA. While there isn't any water, it's an absolutely beautiful venue and extremely well run. They can accomodate a group of virtually any size as they have 2 ballrooms.

blaharn, so am i ! which room are you using? i cannot WAIT!!!

Aimee- check out Venezia in Dorchester (although I'm not sure they can accomodate 250) or Lake Pearl Lucianos in Wrentham- LP has an outdoor tent w/ a lakeview....also there are some places in plymouth and you could always check out Newport :)

The Hillside Country Club in Rehobeth, MA is really nice, not sure if it can accomodate 250 though.  My other favorite is Christina's in Foxboro, MA.  Definitely can accomodate 250.

Dayn070104 - We're getting married in the Madeira Ballroom. It was the clear winner for us since we're having a smaller wedding, plus it's got the fireplaces!!

    Hi Aimee,
Congrats!! There are numerous gorgeous locations in Rhode Island. The ones I would suggest looking into are:

The Squantum Association in East Providence
    Regatta Place in Newport
    The Towers in Narragansett
    Easton Beach Rotunda in Newport

    Good luck!

Ditto, I think it has the BEST view, right on the harbor! And they get great food ratings too!

Thanks so much for the great suggestions! I'm definitely going to take a look at all these places online and see what they have to offer. I underestimated how overwhelming picking a venue is. Yikes.

I'd check out the ATlantica in Cohasset, but I'm not sure how many people they can hold.

We had our wedding at Christina's in Foxboro, MA and i would HIGHLY recommend them! They can definitely accommodate 250 guests and their wedding co-ordinators are amazing! Our wedding planning process was so easy and stress free and we had the time of our lives! GL!

The Bournedale Function Facility in Plymouth has a great receptions hall and beautiful ceremony site.  And it's located on a lake.  It's gorgeous.  It was recentley renovated so if you receive any feedback from people about this place, make sure they have seen it afer renovations.  Good Luck!

I am getting married and having my reception at Independence Harbor in Assonet, MA which is 40 minutes from Boston and 30 minutes for Providence.  It is right on the water as well and gorgeous.  I fell in love the moment we walked through the gardens.
