Venue Comparison Opinions!

Hi all!

We've gotten our options down to three places all with their own pros and cons. Those of you with experience at any of the places we are looking at Lake Pearl, The International, and Nantasket Beach Resort.

Any opinions or votes or things we should know to help pick? All are within budget and places we like aesthetically.

Re: Venue Comparison Opinions!

  • I went to a wedding at Nantasket a few years ok and it was ok. The view from the second floor was nice but it wasn't really waterfront because it was across the street from the beach. The cocktail hour and reception was in the same room which I hate and it made the whole space seem small. The food was ok, nothing special.

  • I've been to a wedding at Lake Pearl, although I've never been to the others so I wouldn't be able to compare. Lake Pearl was nice - food was good (pretty standard wedding food, but it was good), staff seemed on top of things, and the place was really pretty. I don't know anything about the indoor options in case of bad weather, but the outdoor space for the ceremony was really nice and the ballroom for the reception was great. The dance floor was large and it had an elegant feel.
  • I went to a wedidng in the smaller room at Lake Pearl, and it was really beautiful. The room looks small but we had to have had at least 125 in there. There was so much light from all those open windows and the deck. The food was good (not outstanding, but good) and the room we had the cocktail hour in was pretty and spacious as well.

I've been to two weddings at Lake Pearl, but just like the PP, haven't  been to the other venues.  I agree that the food is good, but not amazing.  One of the weddings I went to was in the tent and very casual (BBQ buffet with an ice cream freezer and frisbee and volleyball instead of dancing).  The bride and groom are close friends from HS and said that Lake Pearl was great to work with and really let them have what they wanted (including a bouncy castle).  For the indoor space, it's always very nice, but like the food, it's good, but not amazing.  I've also been to a prom and multiple brunches there.  My biggest issue with Lake Pearl is that they do multiple weddings at once.  Although I have very fond memories of being a kid and going to the beach and getting to see the brides take their pictures :)  AND my parents had their wedding there, when it was still the King Philip Ballroom!

  • Thanks so much everyone! I decided to say screw it and go with the Boston city wedding I've always wanted and spring for the Omni Parker House! Your opinions definitely helped make my decision!
  • LOVE the Omni Parker House!!!  Have had multiple work and grad school events there and it is to die for!  Good for you!
