Magnolia Wedding Films

Hi,

Has anyone used Jesse from Magnolia Films for their videographer? They seem really affordable, but I havent been able to find any reviews on them.

  • If you look at the FAQs on their web-site it seems that they also go under SureShot Videography. That's the name I googled and they got some mixed reviews on wedding wire, and some really bad (one star) reviews on yelp. HTH!

    I am the store manager for Magnolia Films and formerly SureShot Videography. 

    We have decided to no longer use the name SureShot Videography due to the bad reviews on yelp.com and a few other sites. We feel that the name was too badly damaged from those reviews. The negative reviews consist of issues of brides and grooms not receiving their videos within the time frame they were told. Also, we had a hard drive crash during hurricane Irene due to a power surge. 

    Both of these issues are not fabrications, let me explain to you what occurred. August and September are our busiest months for wedding video coverage. In early October we lost our three best editors, two of them moved across the world and the third wanted to focus on starting a family of her own. This loss put us way behind our projected time frame for getting the videos to their owners. 

    The damaged hard drive occured during hurricane Irene, we had just taken several videos from one of our videographers and had not had the chance to make multiple backups (we typically have 3 copies of raw footage in 3 locations). We have paid back all of the payments that we received to those brides and grooms. 

    Last year we handled over 100 weddings and we have only a handful of negative reviews. Unfortunately it is usually only the customers with negative feedback that leave reviews, this is the nature of review websites. 

    I assure you that we are a professional company, we have never missed a wedding or "stiffed" a customer.

  • STAY FAR AWAY FROM JESSE CLARK!!!!  I used him when he was going by the name of Sureshot Videography and he LOST OUR FOOTAGE along with countless other people.  I had to engage an attorney to even get our money back after Jesse and his wife lied to me several times for months on end about the status of my video.  A friend of mine that used him as well.  She got her video UNEDITED and had to go to extreme measures to get it as well.  I know his prices are good, that is what attracted me as well but trust me its NOT WORTH IT.

  • On 10/24/11, I hired Sureshot Videography to record and produce a video package my wedding that would occur on 12/18/11. I received an e-mail the same day that confirmed my order in the amount above. I asked for confirmation via email on whether everything was set and received it on 10/25/11. I again asked for confirmation via email on 12/07/11 and received the confirmation that same day. The confirmation that I received on 12/07/11 advised that they would arrive at 08:00 AM on 12/18/11. They did not do so; instead they arrived late after my wife had already arrived. After the wedding I followed up via email to inquire on the status of my order on 01/05/12. I received a response that the owner was ill and that no one could follow up with me for a couple of weeks. On 01/23/11 I followed up again to inquire on the status of my order. I was advised that I should be receiving it “shortly.” On 02/07/11 I emailed Sureshot Videography to inquire on the status of my order. No one ever responded. I then proceed to call and after great difficulty reached Keith at SureShot Videography who advised that they were delayed and it would take a couple of more weeks. I followed up via a phone call on 03/13/12 and received the same excuse. Again I followed up via a phone call on 04/09/12. My last contact was via a phone call on 04/13/12 where Keith guaranteed that I would receive my order no later than 04/24/12. I did not receive my order. I have tried to email and call SureShot Videography, but will not take any of my calls nor will they respond to any of my emails.

    my friend also used sureshot and she is now in legal proceedings with them so i would steer clear as well....

  • TERRIBLE!!! DO NOT HIRE. Jesse Clark, formerly of SureShot Videography, is now running Magnolia Films. We unfortunately hired Jesse and SureShot to film our wedding this past November. From day one he and his staff were unresponsive, curt and unprofessional (you get what you pay for). It is now May and SureShot videography has been shut down, Jesse is running under a new company name, my husband and I have NO WEDDING VIDEO and NO REFUND. And from what I've seen online and from talking with other couples, we are not the only ones who have been treated this way. Jesse is unprofessional and some say a scam artist. Check the Better Business Bureau for complaints about him and SureShot, and the Mass Attorney General's office too. Check various other wedding review sites as well - he is terrible. DO NOT TRUST HIM with your wedding day footage - he doesn't care about your memories - he cares only about low-balling other videographers, trying to edit bad reviews of him and his company online, and making money money money (while ripping off couples and destroying their chances of saving their memories). He has no conscience and should not be allowed to remain in the wedding videography field. DO NOT HIRE HIM.
  • I hired them for my July 2011 wedding. Not only did they claim to lose my footage, but they won't refund my money or return my emails/phone calls. Avoid SureShot/Magnolia!
  • I am also one Jesse's victims.  Our wedding was September 10th of 2011 and we hired him the February before the wedding.  It was a promotion for the "premier package" deal and the price was excellent.  Jesse told us that we would have our highlight video before we were home from our honeymoon and that our finished video would be done by the end of October, 6 weeks to complete.  Sounded amazing so we hired him.

    Instead of the usual $1200 it was only $850 and it was to include 6 hours of footage, 2 fully edited 90 minute HD DVD's, bride perpetration and family and friend interviews, a custom interactive DVD menu, a sterling silver plated DVD case with our wedding photo, and a fully edited 10 minute youtube highlight video.  3 months later, after getting in touch with the actual person that Jesse sent to film our wedding, we got a highlight video from him, not Jesse.  It was only 3 minutes long, not 10 and was not at all the color OR quality that Jesse's other video's that were on Vimeo were and that I was expecting.  Major disappointment.  And when I questioned Jesse, he told me that "i find you have been real difficult since your wedding".  WOW, what did I get myself into.....

    Did anyone else hire SureShot based on that gorgeous wedding highlight video he posted on Vimeo?  This was the link at one point http://vimeo.com/17459754  It was a cute young couple, the reception looked like some really cool old dive bar with wood paneling, etc...  and one of the songs was a Goo Goo Dolls song, Black Balloon.  I started poking around asking Jesse questions about it, because it was just so beautiful and I had another friend that wanted that location for a reception, and after he evaded my question for weeks, he finally told me that it was a wedding he filmed for friends in Ohio some time back.  Wouldn't you know that he took the video down off of Vimeo that same week, and it has been missing ever since.  So now, not only is he a lying thieving scumbag, but he's a plagiarizing one as well.

    I wonder if the Mass Department of Revenue and the IRS know that he had everyone writing the checks to his name or his wife Veronica Clark's name instead of SureShot.  Filming over 100 weddings a year and charging between $500-$1700 for services, he must have to pay some serious taxes?

    I have a scanned copy of his brochure that he gave me at our consult if anyone needs a copy for their records.

    I have given him every opportunity to redeem himself, either by returning my money or giving me my raw footage.  Now I will proceed with my attorney (she's female and passed the bar, Jesse probably won't like that http://abovethelaw.com/2010/07/when-unemployed-law-students-attack/ )

    That is NOT the same individual that came to video our wedding...eventhough he specificially said he would be flying into Las Vegas to do our wedding and to put his name on the escort card for a meal.  Our wedding was 3/24/12 and we received the highlight reel right after the wedding.  A response from Jesse to our request of the status of our dvd came on 5/24/12 saying it was done being edited and would be mailed soon.  Still nothing.  I email him again today...but I fear a response will not come.  Our highlight reel might be the only video we get- and after reading multiple complaints- we might be lucky to have gotten at least that.
