Bare Minerals Makeup Reaction?

Hi Guys,

So I went for my hair and makeup trial on Friday and ever since Sunday I've noticed these little bumps on my face. They're not noticeable unless you look closely, but the feel of them is driving me nuts! They're not itchy or red, they're just little bumps that feel weird!
The spa I went to used Bare Minerals makeup - which I've heard is amazing. I've never used it before though so maybe my face isn't used to the product? Has anyone else had any reaction to Bare Minerals? They did use this primer liquid on my face first, so this may be the cause since it was the one that was in direct contact with my face.

I'm not sure whether to call the spa and ask them about it? Do I go for another trail to see if my face reacts like that again?
Thanks...

I would definitely do another trial to be safe. If you don't want to pay the extra money you could always go to a Bare Minerals store and they do the "free" make-up ...that may be a good way to test.  I would think you would be worried and stressing about a reaction otherwise.

I have very sensitive skin and I use bare minerals and haven't had a reaction even when using the primer foundation (if it's what I am thinking about it's clear).  Every skin type is different so it's very possible that it is causing you some sort of reaction.  (Try to also think what else they used, like anything to remove your make-up you had on).  Try it again and that will give you an answer :) -- good luck!

Thanks-- Yeah they did use a clear primer... it could be this that's causing a reaction.
I made sure not to wear any makeup that day and I only put on a little moisturizer in the morning... I googled it and it said that I might be allergic to the bismuth oxychloride in the makeup. The site also recommended putting on a good layer of moisturizer first to your skin doesn't react... Maybe I will go back and try it again. I guess I should wait until my face clears first?

I think waiting until it clears up sounds like a good idea.  From your ticker it looks like you have over 3 months to go so you still have some time to figure out what will work for your face.  Try not to stress and try again in a week or two when it's cleared up.  Sounds like a reaction but I'm sure your make-up artist will find something that works for you!

I would wait until it is all fine again and then do another trial or maybe do the Bare Minerals store?

Did you see themn clean the brushes/sponges they used?

Hmm, well the lady applied the primer on with her fingertips to smooth it all in. And I'm pretty sure the brushes looked clean when applying the foundation, but I guess I wouldn't really be able to tell since I didn't see her open a brand new one...

Yeah I think i'll wait a few weeks to get back down in the area and see them again. I'm thinking a) I'll have them do a test spot on my cheek or forehead to see what happens... or b) just have them use different foundation but keep everything else the same BM products.

    Thanks for the tips :)

I use Bare Minerals and I don't have a reaction, but the priming lotion they make gives me tiny pin prick bumps, almost as if my pores were clogged, but it's not that.  My skin is super sensitive too.  I use a heavy moisturizer/suncreen underneath, and that helps a lot.  They only downside is that the makeup can get cakey with too much moisturizer, so I usually apply the moisturizer and wait 30 min before apply foundation.  Or if I'm in a rush I will lightly sweep some powder over my face before I apply foundation to prevent it from getting too cakey.

I have found the Bare Minerals sometimes doesn't wash off completely too, which is something to look out for.  I also don't "buff" the makeup in like they reccomend, because I found that the brushes, unless a very high quality, can actually stick or prick your skin if you are too forcefull.  Older brushes do this more than new brushes.

Ashley, I think those pin prick bumps are what I have... they don't hurt or itch right? They're not too noticeable only when you rub your hands on your face.
I haven't been wearing makeup the past few days so that my skin doesn't get more irritated by something else on it. Do you have a cure for getting rid of those bumps? Or do they naturally go away by themselves in a week or two?

Mine didn't hurt or itch so it's probably likely that might be your problem.  They do go away quickly.  I use a glycolic acid toner, and that can speed up the process.  I'd avoid any skin lotions with retinol until they are gone.  I remember vaguely that it stung.  A milk mask might help with some of the redness too.
