Review of Hyatt Regency Boston

I recently attended a wedding at the Hyatt Regency in Chinatown & just wanted to share my experience/thoughts as a guest.

The couple got married & had there reception there.  One thing that really bothered us as an engaged couple was that EVERYONE at the Hyatt seemed surprised when we asked them where the wedding was.  No signs anywhere. Being fall, the ceremony was inside in a very non-descript room.  Not my thing, but it did the job.  They do have outdoor space to get married in during warmer months.  There was a free coat check, which was great.

The cocktail hour was held upstairs.  Typical cocktail hour, except the traditional "cheese" platter got an incredible make-over.  Humus, vegetables, meats.  Really nice.

From there, we went into the ballroom.  Huge ballroom. Nothing particularly special about it. One of the terraces was directly connected to the ballroom.  For 130 people or so, it seemed a little big, but still nice.  We had fresh bread brought out, our first course was a salad & we had filet for our entree.  Mine was a little bit more well done than I would have liked, but my fiancees was perfectly medium rare.

For dessert, they had cake served with ice cream pops & a fondue station, all of which is included in the package.  I thought the ice cream pop & fondue really made the meal a bit different!

Open bar with well drinks.  Can't complain!

I know the couple said the wedding was inclusive of cocktail hour, dessert (including their cake) and OPEN BAR & priced less than $150/person.  Oh, did I mention they ended up getting free nights on their honeymoon?  Overall, great deal for the price, especially in Boston.  I wasn't blown away by the space, but it's a great option for those looking to stick to a budget in the city!
