Barmakian Jewelers

Has anyone used Barmakian Jewelers?  How was your experience?  Are they reasonable in price.  I have an engagement ring from a different place but I wanted to see if Barmakian Jewelers would be able to custom make the wedding band to match my ring.  Has anyone used them to change your engagement ring you have?  Thanks for sharing.

My best friend and bm bought her rings there. Her and her fi shopped together for the engagement ring and they LOVEd Barmakian. She said the service and quality was top notch.

As for price, her ring is pricey but so is mine and I bought it at a small local store. I'm sure, like all places, they have things in different price ranges.

I don't know anything about their custom work though, sorry!

My fi bought my engagement ring fom Barmakian and he said they were really helpful. When we were shopping around for engagement rings, we went to some small stores and Barkmakian was much cheaper and the stones were about the same quality. I'm not too sure about custom rings though.

My FI bought my engagement ring at Barmakian and raves about the customer service.  My friend and I went there a couple of weeks ago looking at wedding bands (she is getting married too) - they have a matching band for my engagement ring so that will be the one I am getting.  But my friend talked at length with them about custom making a band to go along with her engagement ring (not purchased there).  By the sound of it, they can pretty much make anything.  HTH!

they are AMAZING i am so glad we went there. we went to jareds first and they were too pushy. employees at barmakian don't work on commission so they won't push you to buy i am in love with my ring and we will be going back soon for our bands. they are very honest and trust worthy. i hightly recommend them. we went to the one in nashua, it was great!

My ring is from Barmakian and we LOVE them.  When we had first went looking for rings I wanted to see if they had any celtic rings, they didn't have too many to show, but said "we can make anything".  Even by having a picture they say they can customize a ring with a brand new ring machine thing they got a few years back.  I have no clue on the price of my ring, but FI did mention it was appraised for WAY more than he paid - so that made him feel good of course :)  We worked with John in the Boston office (you'll see many positive reviews with him online).  I love my ring, I get plenty of compliments on it (PIB if interested).

    Good luck!

My fi got my ring at barmakian - raves about them. We went back to get it sized and I brought a bracelet with me that had a broken clasp to get repaired - they did it for free (of course the ring cost $$$ so I guess they could throw in the bracelet repair!)

If you go to Nashua you don't pay sales tax :)

My ring is from Barmakian's and my Fiance couldn't rave about them enough.  He went there with two of his friends to buy their gf's rings.  He loved their selection and customer service so much, he decided to buy my ring there.  They are pretty flexible and have people on site that work on the jewelry.  Good Luck!

Have to agree with PP's....both my engagement and wedding bands are from Barmakian and they have some amazing top level service.  We shop at the store in Framingham and they are wonderful there.

Our wedding bands are from the Nashua location and both were custom made for us. We went during their annual March wedding band sale. If I were you, I would keep my eyes out for it. If memory serves, its 10% off during that event. They were great to work with.

I have heard great things about Barmakian Jewelers as well.  My FI's entire family has been shopping there for DECADES.  The only bad thing I can say it we were at a family function talking about our rings recently and all the ladies started talking about their jewelry they got from Barmakian and at some point someone mentioned losing a stone in something and soon EVERYONE was telling their story about losing a stone.  I know a lot of jewelers will offer free cleaning/maintenance on jewelry, so I'd say to make sure everything is insured and that you take advantage of their services.  Maybe once a year set up a calendar reminder to have the prongs checked & tightened if they need it.

Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)

My FI got my ring at the Boston location and I love it. It appraised for about 50% more than he paid as well, but I think they almost always appraise for a lot more. The price was about on par with Blue Nile though.

I do have one complaint about it though-- when I got my ring, there was a small chip in the platinum that went around the pave set stones, barely visible but extremley irritating to my fingers. When we brought it back to get it fixed and resized, they sort of made me feel like I was being super picky. The manager actually said, 'You noticed that?' My reaction was, shouldn't you have? No apology for the inconvenience, and what newly engaged bride wants to be without her ring for a week? They did fix it for free, and would have been able to resize while we waited if it weren't for the other fix. I'm still debating whether we will go back for our wedding bands.

My FI shopped around for places to custom make my engagement ring. He ended up going with Long's in Burlington. They gave him the best price and were extremely awesome to him. They resized the ring in a matter of a few hours for me. We will definitely be going back there to get my wedding band made. I don't know about the jeweler you mention, but if you have the time, you might want to shop around to make sure you are getting the best deal as well. The only thing you might do is waste some time, but you will know that you made the right choice in the end.
