Does this sound crazy?

I'm having a hard time finding what I want for day-of hair and makeup that will travel to us.  Would it be totally insane to take the d-line into the city the morning of the wedding and then take it back (we're going to spend the night in Newton at the Indigo)?

I'm just thinking that a salon would be better able to quickly accommodate the six of us, and maybe I can take everyone to breakfast.

Could you get a cab instead, depending on how many, you could get a van. I get frustrated enough on the t going to work and I think I'd be way to antsy to do it the morning of the wedding.

Would it work for you timing wise?

I would look into another optiopn for travel...  Does the hotel have a shuttle?  Could they direct you toward an inexpensive for of transportation?

What's your timeline like for that day?

We had a 2 p.m. ceremony but did some family photos as well as shots with my girls before the wedding so I needed to be ready by noon for our photographer. There were 6 of us getting hair and make-up that morning and we started at 7:30 a.m. so everyone would be done in time.

Knowing how much I hate the T on a work day, I would never take it the day I am getting married...how about renting a shuttle bus to take you/from to the salon? Make sure you have your appointments set so that you have enough time to get back to the hotel and get your dress on...it can take longer than you think :) GL!

As much as I hate the T, I especially hate the green line, and even more especially hate the points where it branches off.  Cab it!  Def worth any extra money!

Take a cab, I took the riverside line everyday and now seriously I pay $200 dollars a month to park in Boston to not deal with that.
There should be decent hair salons in Newton Center and Newton Highlands that may be somewhat close so you don't have to go all the way into Boston.

Sorry for posting and running!  My MOH talked me out of it and I found a reputable salon in Weston, which isn't terribly far.

Thank you so much for all of your feedback.  You're right, taking the T on a daily basis fills me with rage, so I can't even imagine what I was thinking trying to deal with it on my wedding day.  :-)

This is unrelated to the T/hair situation - I just had to say that we (and our guests) stayed at the Indigo in Newton for our wedding and LOVED it. The people there are insanely nice (my mother is even facebook friends now with some of the staff - they went above and beyond) and the hotel was amazing. Did you get the suite? I wish we had it for more than one night (the second bathroom alone is bigger than our bedroom!) - we're thinking about going back for our one year anniversary. I know, lame - going to the next town over to stay a night or two - but we can't afford to go back to St. John and I want to do something. ;)
