Flower quote question

Happy Saturday! My wedding is in September this year and my colors and red and gold, with accents of orange and silver. I want my flowers to be mostly red to stand out against the gold linens and rooms. I'm totally fine with using less expensive flowers and care about the color more than type of flower.

I'm getting a quote of $2100 for 20 centerpieces (10 tall and 10 short), 1 bridal bouquet, 9 boutonnieres, 4 corsages and loose rose petals for tossing. Is this a reasonable quote? I wasn't sure since the flowers are going to be roses and gerberas and not more expensive ones like orchids etc.

The boutonnieres are $10 each which seemed high to me considering they are single red roses--but what do I know? :)

BTW, the quote is from Orchids N Blooms.

Thanks!

That sounds completely reasonable to me!

Are the BM bouquets included? And what flowers did you choose bc that affects the cost

That seems like a really good price.

We paid $150 per centerpiece and they had no flowers.  Our bouts were $20 with 1 mini gerber.

The flowers are roses and gerberas--the tall centerpieces are $125 each for those.
This doesn't include bridesmaids bouquets--traditional Indian wedding so no real bridal party.

I think it's reasonable although the bouts seem a little high for roses.  I'm having calla lilies which I thought were more expensive than roses and mine are $8/piece. But I have like half of what you have for flowers and my quotes is a little under $900.

That's very reasonable considering you're doing floral centerpieces.

Great price IMO.... my colors were very similar to your color scheme, check out my album for flowers pics if you're interested.

Orchids n' Bloom is my florist as well and Erica is great at thinking creatively to stay within your budget.  She encouraged me to purchase my own vases (found 22" glass vases at Christmas Tree Shoppes for $10 each and she said that the floral supply shop would have charged her at least $30) so that may bring your price down.  You could also add filler to the centerpieces (ie. bear grass) to cut back on the # of flowers if necessary.

I think that quote is reasonable.  There is always sticker shock with flowers...they are expensive!

I'm paying $1,600 for hydrangea, dahlia, orchids, cabbage roses and a few others.  We have bride, groom, 6 bms, 6gms, 2 dads, 2 grandfathers, 2 mothers, 1 grandmother, 2 altar arangements, 1 spray for the arch, submerged flowers for the piano and sweet heart table, 24 centerpieces, buckets with flowers every other pew and a toss bouquet.

Other quotes I recieved were for much less than that for around $2,000+.

Another place to get a quote from that may be much lower cost for you is The Vintage Rose in Methuen.  For roses and daisys I would think you could get it for a better price.  I'm not an expert though.

Yes, as the others have said, that sounds pretty reasonable.  We worked with Orchids N' Blooms as well and our quote came out around there (I had fewer tables, but more bouqeuts than your quote).

I had also asked once about the pricing on the boutoneers (?sp). They explained it has less to do with whats in it and more to do with the time it takes to make it, which made sense.

To help out with the budget have you considered not doing the tall arrangements?  Those can really cause things to add up on a quote (we decided to do all short in the end).

They are happy to make budget-frienldy suggestions for you, something I did not find with other studios I received quotes from.  Case in point, I visited other places in the Boston area and got quotes well over $5K.  And most were not so wililng to entertain my questions on how to keep costs down.  ;o)  Good luck!

Thanks all! Yes, I think it's sticker shock, along with all things wedding related. I do like the idea of buying my own vases to keep costs down though!!

DirtyWater, where did you get your flowers from?

If you do not already have a flower vendor.......

I am charging almost nothing to do wedding arrangements because I need pictures for our website !! so this is a great opportunity for you to get great quality arrangements at pretty much cost price.  Let me know if you are interested.
