POLL: bridal bouquet

Looking for some help ladies....my gown is ivory, my BMs are in red and I'm getting married on Valentine's Day w/o roses...not a fan of them (sorry ladies!).

My first thought was for me to carry all deep red calla lilies and have the BMs carry all ivory.

NOW I'm thinking I should be carrying the all ivory bouquet and the BMs carry a mix of ivory, dark red and deep purple - the accent color.

HELP me decide b/c I'm torn and need to make a decision :)
TIA!

Have you thought about doing an antiqued looking bouquet? I know you said you don't like roses but with an ivory dress, what about a mix of ivory, blush and champagne colored flowers? I have a pic in my bio if you want to see (they're roses but I'm sure you could get the same tones in different flowers). I think you'll want some sort of range of color so they don't look too flat.

I think the first thing to decide is whether or not you want to have color in your bouquet or not.  If you don't, I love Shazzie'a idea of the ivory/antiqued bouquet.  Talk to your florist about other ivory/white flowers- I'm sure you don't have to go with roses if you don't want to.

Personally, I love the pop of color against the white dress and would vote for that.  You could have the red flowers and the BM's could have the mixed red, ivory and purple.

Your possibilities are endless!  What color are the girls dresses?

The color of my bouquet is something that I have struggled with too.  I am doing monotone bright, crisp pink flowers for my wedding (for centerpieces and other flowers) and I thought that was what I wanted for my bouquet.  After looking at so many pictures I think that I am going to go with the traditional white/ivory bridal bouquet.  It is such a classic look and the more I see the white bouquets, the more I love them!

I think that I am going to end up having a bouquet of white peonies, callas, gardenia, roses and orchids.

I personally love the look of bright-colored bouquets - they just stand out so beautifully against a white/ivory gown. I think all deep red calla lilies would look so gorgeous.  You could still have your bridesmaids carry deep red bouquets too, but theirs could be in a different flower to be different from yours.  Dahlias maybe?  Or a mix of different types of flowers all in the same deep red color?  I'm with you - roses just don't do much for me either.

I did a combo of different kind of red roses, black magic roses and some other rose I forget what it is called.  You can't really tell from the pic, but they are all different shades....but, I love Red roses!!!

I think having some color in your bouquet really gives for good pictures.  The red callas are really nice.  I liked them alot.

I did an all ivory bouquet for myself (all white ranunculus - an excellent alternative to roses - I'm not a rose fan either) and color for my girls (all orange ranunculus - which popped like crazy against their black dresses) - I was going for sort of a vintage look. I LOVED my flowers - but when I told a couple florists I wanted an all white bouquet for myself - they kept saying "it won't pop, do something else" (so I didn't hire them, ha!). On my wedding day - I wanted to pop, I wanted people to look at ME not at my flowers. While I think colored bouquets are beautiful - for me personally, they are just distracting. I've got tons o'photos in my married bio of my flowers (under "details" and "portraits").

I just had to say that I loved Leah's bouquet - it's probably on the top of my all--time-best-ever-bouquets-list. (Such a thing exists) I wanted thistle SO bad in our wedding somewhere but just couldn't figure out a way to incorporate it! Good idea Leah, about asking for "textural" flowers - a florist would probably know instantly what you wanted!

Leah - we actually had to go with a different type of ranunculus, my florist found them - I guess there is a different breed that survives into October - but I really had to ask around (12 florists) to find them!
