Honeymoon booked & Program Question

I am SO happy we finally have everything for our honeymoon booked.  Costa Rica here we come :)  If anyone has been there, bring on the tips!

Now onto my question - did any of you print your own programs?  If so, where did you find a template?  We are having a Jewish ceremony (FI's Jewish; I am not) so I want to have a lot of explanation on what everything means for my side.  I don't want to spend too much time on it on the one hand (I have law school finals in two weeks), but I need to get going!  Any suggestions are appreciated.

Congrats on Costa Rica! It's so gorgeous there.. make sure to do some hiking in the rain forest. Also, I'm sure you know but make sure to get your shots before you go!

As for the program, if you post this on the Jewish weddings board and ask for examples girls will email you their program and you should be able to copy and paste that way.

Okay, I'm going to try copy & paste.  Let's see if this ends up looking okay
Also, ask your officiant.  Our rabbi gave us a bunch of example texts, and we sent him our program to proofread before printing.  We wanted to make sure we matched his plan for the ceremony.

    Processional

Air on the G String, Johann Sebastian Bach

    Canon in D, Johann Pachelbel

    The Chuppah

The marriage ceremony is performed under a chuppah, or wedding canopy, which symbolizes the home that we will build together.  The open sides echo the tent of Abraham and Sarah, which was open on all sides so that visitors would always feel welcome.   The openness is a symbol of hospitality and our desire to share life’s joy with family and friends.

    Exchange of Personal Vows

    Sheva B’rachot

The Sheva B’rachot, or Seven Blessings, are recited to praise the natural world and humanity; extol the value of family life; express hope and happiness for the bride and groom; and pray for peace and human kindness.

    Sharing of the Wine

At the completion of the Sheva B’rachot, we will drink from the same cup of wine, symbolizing our sharing in life’s sweetness and the beginning of our life together.

    Exchange of Rings

We will recite traditional wedding vows in both Hebrew and English.  The vows translate as “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.”  We will then exchange our wedding rings.

    Reading of the Ketubah

The Ketubah is the Jewish marriage contract.  In a private gathering prior to the wedding ceremony, our immediate families and bridal party joined us for the signing of the Ketubah. Our Ketubah affirms our commitment to building a home filled with love, learning, and happiness.

    Priestly Benediction

The Priestly Benediction is from the Book of Numbers in the Torah.  It is a blessing that acknowledges the sacredness of life.

    Community Affirmation

    Rabbi’s Personal Blessing

    Breaking of the Glass

At the conclusion of the ceremony, it is customary for the groom to break a glass by stepping on it.  This signals the sealing of the marriage contract and the beginning of the celebration.  After the glass is broken, exclamations of “MAZEL TOV” wish the couple congratulations and good luck!

    a few notes:
-there are many possible texts or explanations for the Jewish ceremony, so I'd encourage you to read a bunch of them and figure out what resonates with you.
-we had our program printed by maplemountaindesigns.com.  She did a great job and it was not very much more expensive than printing it ourselves.  And it was a lot less effort.  I think our programs cost around $2.25 for a booklet style program with ribbon binding and 4 pages of text.

Can't help on programs, but I LOVE Costa Rica. We just went in March and will definitely go back again some day. Do you know which areas you are going to? I would say definitely buy a guide book you like and bring it with you! I have never used a guidebook as much as I did there. Make sure to spend some time on the beach, but also get off of the Pacific coast for a while to see the rain forests, maybe volcanos. Definitely do a zipline tour-- we did Sky Trek in Arenal but they are everywhere. Spend as little time in San Jose as you can, there really isn't much you want to do there. You will have a great time.

When I developed my programs, I just googled "Catholic wedding programs" and found a lot of helpful links with content - I'm guessing you can do the same for Jewish program help.

As far as the actual printing / design goes - I used Vistaprint.  They do have some program templates now, but didn't when I started designing it.  I just picked a brochure I liked and went with it.  The regular prices of the brochures are up there, but not bad.  However, once you have an account with Vistaprint, they send you coupons for free items all the time.  Also, coupon cabin seems to always have 50% off coupons for them as well.

Our etsy invitation designers designed a digital program for us, we paid for the file, and printed them at Staples.  They were in a multitude of colors, double sided, cut to our specifications, and looked great.

Hi everyone -- thank you all so much for your suggestions.

hpinault & eeyore4771 -- your programs look great!  I'd love to see the template if possible.  My email is Megan.Eisenman at gmail.  EEyore your templates might just be the thing I've been looking for!  Still need to put in another page but that shouldn't be too hard.

October010bride & Karen's MOH -- that is great that you enjoyed CR!  We are very excited about the trip.  We are taking advantage of both the beach at Guanacaste (staying at JW Marriott) then going inland to Arenal for awhile and then a coffee plantation last.  Definitely doing Sky Trek in Arenal.
