Taj Hotel - Roof Deck?

Hi Ladies -
Was at the Taj on Friday looking at the roof deck as a potential place to host our Rehearsal Dinner this August.  The roof deck doesn't open until April so we saw it without the tent cover on the top, and no furniture etc.  Had to imagine what it would look like.

Today we went back to show FI and they wouldn't let us pop upstairs quickly just to show him since it was "against policy."  Was really a turn off how lovely they were yesterday and today it was a complete 180.

Have you ladies seen this venue?  Has anyone worked with their event staff?  Any feedback would be awesome!!

I went to a work function at the roof deck and it was nice.  It leaks when it rains though.

My bridal shower was at the Taj and from what I hear, they were a joy to work with!  Everything was amazing and they were very responsive and helpful--my mom raved about them and the shower was wonderful!

We looked at the roof deck and didn't like it.  I thought that the area around the elevator/bathrooms up on the roof was really run down and smelled musty.  We have also heard that the roof leaks when it rains which would be horrible for a wedding.  The A/C units are right there on the roof and apparently it gets really loud up there when they are running which they would be in August.  It just wasn't the place for us and our overall opinion was that it was not up to the quality you would expect from a 5 star hotel.

Hmmm.  Thank you for all the feedback.  Now I don't know what to do either :(

I love the "urban chic" feel of it, with the black and white and the city skyline view... but I don't want to deal with a leaking roof and/or yelling over air conditioners.

Whyyy Taj Boston.  You're a 5-star hotel get your game in gear.
