Reception: Table Number Alternatives

For the reception, we would like to identify seating with something other than traditional table numbers.

We have seen a number of couples list places they have traveled to and would like something a little different from that too.  Just not sure what.  We could incorporate something from the musuem collection where our reception is being held.  Open to suggestion.

What are you thinking for yourself?/ Any ideas?  Thanks!

Amanda--I love that look, so unique!  Were all of your towns in MA or were some from out of state?  If they were out of state, did you change the look of the sign?

I think you could do all sorts of things.  You could use alphabet letters (using English or other alphabets).  Since you have a museum theme, you could do famous artists or works of art (the Mona Lisa table, The Scream table, etc).  You could use different colors or types of flowers.  Different zodiac signs or constellations.  Your favorite movies or albums.  Make it you and be creative.  You can use or make the things out of all sorts of stuff.  Origami animals, baseballs, lamps, painted wood, paper mache, framed pictures or text, clay models, etc.  Pretty much the sky's the limit.
Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)

We are using b&w wedding photos of our familes and friends...it is a total PITA project but now that we are seeing them come to life, I'm so glad we did it.

The photo has a table number along with their names, how they know us and how long they have been married. They range from my grandparents (married 62 years!) to one of our BM & GM who have been married over a year.

We did our tables by places on the Vineyard we love. It kept in the theme and added a nice touch. A word to the wise, if you have upwards of say 12 tables I would also put table numbers with you fun name, just so guests aren't wandering around uncomfortably looking for their table.

We did places that were significant to us.  The name of the dorm we lived in Freshman year (where we met), the name of the ice arena at our college, the resort we were going to for our honeymoon, both of our hometowns, where we live now, etc.   I made the table numbers, with the name of the place, a picture or two of us at that place, and a little blurb about why that place was important to us.

coreywalk - All of the cities/towns are in MA except for one - Casco, ME because it is significant to me in particular and the people sitting at that table will be able to relate to that particular town.

We did towns that are significant to us and we are going to try to sit people at the table they most associate with. :)

I love the idea of the famous artists or works of art. I never would have thought to do anything different than plain old table numbers. Thanks coreywalk for the great idea

One of my friends did "Love" indifferent languages. She was a linguistics major, so it was perfect for her. I've seen tables with pictures of couples at places that are meaningful to them around Boston or wherever.

We're doing numbers, but I yoinked the Red Sox jersey font and Photoshopped our red in. I hope they come out nice, I haven't assembled them yet.
