Grooms cake recommendations/ideas?

I found a place that will make a Sam Adams beer bottle shaped cake big enough to feed 30...but they want $170 plus $25 for delivery.  Does that seem high to anyone except me?

Does anyone have any recommendations of places that would be near Norwood, Walpole, Dedham, and would be able to create such a cake more reasonably?

Thanks!

PS - any great ideas other than a beer bottle are also welcome...my folks frowned on the beer bottle idea, but it's my hubbys fave! LOL

I got mine from Dessert Works and it was about 200 in the shape of Superman--it came out great and was delicious--depending on what design you want and the extent of work it takes to create, those are the prices I found to be average while searching for a grooms cake

We're using Donna's cake in West Roxbury for our wedding.  I don't know if they could make the beer bottle but her prices are great and the cake is delicious.

We used Cakes to Remember in Brookline. Ellen made a hot sauce bottle (DH loves spicy food) and it turned out really cute. Everyone couldn't believe it was cake! Sculpted cakes tend to be pricier since there's more work involved in terms of building the cake, shaping, decorating, etc. I'm not sure on the pricing for the groom's cake since the cost was combined with that of the wedding cake for a total amount.

That price seems normal. Its not just a regular tierd round cake that is decorated and they have to be sculpted more and are not only time consuming I imagine, but also its just a novelty that we as brides can't just make or have family members make so right now because grooms cakes have gotten really trendy they do tend to get upwards of $200 for a cake. We opted not to get a groom's cake because of this and instead invested the money towards hiring a lighting designer. For what its worth, we thought creating a nicer atmosphere with colored lights would have more impact than 'another' cake.

Ours was a lot more than that  I don't even want to say! The lady that did our cake has been on the cake challenge maybe that's why. Here's what we did <: our doggie Sam!

I'm getting mine from Dessert Works in Norwood. I am getting a round Bruins hockey puck big enough to feed at least 20 and it costed me $75
