Photographer

I am looking for a photographer for our AHR in July 2011. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced one for less than $1000? I only need about 5 hours of coverage and just want the pictures on CD with copyright release. We're having our reception in Dartmouth. All the ones I seem to find start at $3000! TIA

Hmm I actually don't. With the copyright release it may be hard to get that amount of coverage for that price. I have found the release alone tends to add several hundred dollars.

You can try putting a posting on the boards for New England School of Photography. I know people from here have used students for other events with good results.

    Good luck!!

we used www.johnlophoto.com john loconte but im not sure how low his packages go anymore... might be worth a try? hth!

I second JohnLo!!!  He's starting prices are $1500 for 8 hours.  I'd ask to see if you can customize a package for 5 hrs and bring the price down.  He super easy to work with! GL!

Getting a photographer in prime wedding season for under a $1,000 with copyright release might be tough.  Perhaps try a grad student or someone just starting out in the business?  They might be more likely to work within your budget.

I believe my photographers have an option for less than $1000. They are usually a duo but for that price, I'm pretty sure you just get one. Still, it's a good deal for a photographer who has experience. I really liked their work and thought they were awesome to work with.

I'd say www.nathanfiske.com or whitelighthousephoto.com for reasonable packages and great pictures!

One of my friends is a photographer and recently started shooting weddings (did some this past wedding season as first photographer - had been 2nd shooter before).  Anyway, since she's just starting out her prices may be more in your range.  Here's her website if you'd like to check her out.  If she doesn't have her wedding shots up yet, just email her and I'm sure she'll send you links to her recent slideshows.

We emailed someone at the New England School of Photography (Kate
KMurphy@nesop.com) who put us in touch with some great photographers. We let her know what we were looking for and she sent a lead to some recent graduates and we found a photographer that we love at a reasonable price!

One of the photographers that I met with would certainly be within your budget.  She is based out of Boston, but comes with a nicer price tag than you would think.  When my fiance and I met with her, she gave us a few suggestions to help keep costs down even further and was just really easy to talk with.

I am sure you will find someone for that price. I just know the photographers we looked at were way more than that but since its just an AHR then a student might be okay. On twitter there was recently a link about finding low cost photographers on the Jen Williams photo blog out of Vancouver which had some good info.

Check out Pam Helm at Altared Visions.  http://altaredvisions.com/ We are using her for our March wedding.  She is funky with a cool photojournalistic style.  Her base package is 6 hours, 2 photogs and a high-res disc of all the images.  She is trying to get her business going so she is very reasonable.
