Pricing for photography

Can any one help e with some average photographer prices? Our wedding will be a Saturday in June at 7p-12a. We would like all the normal getting ready pics before hand, online gallery, print rights etc.

Thank you so much!

Our wedding was a Friday night in June and we paid $1200 for 8 hours (getting ready, ceremony, formals and most of the reception). We had an online gallery, got all printing rights to our photos and he sent us all of the pictures (in both color and black and white) on a disc in a leather bound case.

I did notice that he up'ed his price to $1500 but it's still a steal!

We're paying $2,450 but his prices went up to $3,400...we definitely benefited by booking early!! Our package includes: e-session with images, two photographers, all-day coverage, web gallery of images with print release, and a 12x12 leather wedding album.

Our awesome photographer cost us $1300 for an engagement session, six hours on the wedding day, and all pictures on a CD with printing rights, also an online gallery.  She's also very easy to work with and totally flexible on a lot of things.  Check her out before her prices go up.

I booked with Amore Photography by David LaChapelle.  He was around $3k but that includes engagement picture, 8 hours with him and an assistant, album, and online gallery and CD.  I would definitely look into him if he's in your price range.

Our photographer is $3300 for 9 hours, 2 photographers, 1 album and 2 parent albums.  But my friend got married this past summer and used Shawn Black.  He did an amazing job!!  She had 8 hours 2 photographers for around $2K.  I would highly suggest you check him out www.shawnblackphoto.com.   I didn't realize how important and how much the photographer is involved.  I've said it on here before, if we would have known about him we would have used him, but we already had our contract with Tilley Photography.

We got unlimited coverage, over 2000 pictures all on disc so we could do whatever we want with them, online hosting for a year, an engagement session, an amazing album made in Italy and parent albums for $3k.  Our photographer was unbelievable.  The pictures were just stunning, their style is gorgeous and they captured every little thing without ever being in the way.  I highly recommend them.  Their website is www.berryphotos.com

We booked 6 hours of coverage

    1hr: getting ready
    1 hr: ceremony
    1 hr: family pics
    3 hrs: reception

Our photographer said that we don't really need coverage throughout the whole evening, because there are so many pics you can take of people dancing, etc. before pics really start to be similar.

We are paying 1450 (normally almost 1800 but we are doing cash)  for the 6 hours of coverage.  Then we have up to a year to do an album.  We already know we will do the one for 1000 which includes 2 parent albums, CD with pics and printing rights, and online album.  So all in all, just under 2500.

Also, we found people for cheaper that might have had a few extra things that we liked however it's most important to feel a bond with your photographer, after all... this person is going to be buzzing around you on your wedding day!

We have a family friend who took up photography as a hobby (he works a full-time job) and would love to be a full-time photographer.  He majored in graphic arts in college and has a great eye.  Because we are friends he did not charge us a lot, but I believe that his rates are much lower than other photographers.

You can check out some of his work at: http://photo.joshuapaulking.com/

You can find good photographers at $1,500 that may just be starting out.
Average prices from what I've seen are between $2,500 - $3,500 for the popular guys that do almost nothing but weddings and $5,000+ for the seasoned professionals.

That said I paid under $1,200 for a photographer that had only done 2 weddings before mine. Was very happy with my photos, but would have loved more money to get one of the others whose work is just crazy amazing.
