DJ Question!

FI and I are trying to decide between 2 DJs, my grandmother, who's paying, has asked for references. One of the DJs who we were leaning towards said that he doesn't have any he clients he can give us due to privacy issues. He did give us 3 photographers and told us to call our venue.

Do you think this is weird?
Did you ask for references with your DJ?

I did not ask for references, but I saw my DJ in action at another wedding so that is why we booked him

Our DJ provided us with a list of references. However, we didn't use them. We booked him because several people we know used him.

We didn't reference because we had been to a few weddings that he had done.

Did you post his name here? Maybe some of the girls have used him or seen him in action?

I did post him here, unfortunately he's out of Western MA so I haven't received any feedback. II know he does travel to Boston and CT, so I've posted on all 3, but I think most of his business is out of WMass and that board gets very little traffic.

Can you ask him to check with some recent clients and have them contact you, then its not really a privacy issue.

I'd be a little suspicious of someone not willing to at least TRY to get you the references you are asking for.

Our's came recommended by our venue, he showed us some video from receptions and also some post wedding interviews.  We also have a friend that used him and came highly recommended.
