Card Boxes

Hi Ladies

I'm looking for ideas for a card box. My venue will not lock up the box at any time, They said I could take it and have it locked in my car if I wanted too but I don't want to really have to worry about that.  Does anyone have any recommendations/ideas on a nice secure box?

Re: Card Boxes

  • They have picture frame boxes with locks on the top or bottom.  You can stick something over the lock so you dont see it.
  • You could get a plain box (DIY bride here) and decorate it somehow, like with wrapping paper, so that the box is sealed on all sides. Then, you just cut a slot in the top. As long as you don't want to keep the box as a keepsake or anything then it won't be a big deal if you destroy it getting the cards out yourself, but atleast you won't have to worry about anyone else getting them.
  • That is strange that they wont lock it up for you. Whatever you do don't leave the box out all night or put in your car. We left our box out till dinner time and figured if people didn't put it in the box by then they would hand the cards to us. I would elect someone to worry about that because you don't need any more stress.

Although my venue will lock up my box, I was searching for something unique... instead of the typical card boxes that you see online. I found this box at Homegoods and it has a latch on the front that you can get a small lock for. I plan to leave the box open for people to put cards in, then close it and lock it up... you can always cut a slit in the top and keep it locked the whole time... putting a small lock on something like this doesn't stand out so much... it almost looks like it was meant to be there... Good luck!

  • Ensure the table that holds it is on the inside of the reception room opposite the entry door and assign at least two groomsmen to keep an eye on it all night.  After dinner have one of them lock it in a car.
  • Wait... I've never heard of this... do people steal the cards? Is this something I should be worried about too?
