seating cards/table numbers/ programs...help please!

I am trying to figure out if I should do my programs and seating cards myself.  does anyone have any good ideas?  unique idea for the seating cards?? Any cheap places that will do them for you?  The paper store charges 1.25 for each card and 2.50 for the programs...is that high??  any info would be great!  thanks!!

You could try the DIY board.  They have some great ideas!  Also the Invitation board.  I forget if its called Paper or Invitations.......

ps.  I love the paper store and find them completly reasonable.  However, I have zero artistic ability and fail miserably when I try to DIY. :)

I did all of these stuff myself, and it was not too hard. I only had 110 guests, though.
If you have some time, it is fun!!! You can use "normal" programs, such as powerpoint and word, it only takes a few practice run!

I matched everything to the design of the invitations, the escort cards were very simple, just stripes in different colors, and we put a picture of ourselves on the program, which people liked a lot.

You can take a look at them on

We are doing a seating chart instead of seating cards.  I didn't want to spend the time, paper or money making individual seating cards.  We bought a 16x20 frame and we plan to alphabetize the guests and just put their table number next to their name.  Our graphic designer is going to design it for us and then we will have it professionally printed.  I have seen it done before and I love the idea for so many reasons.

You can DEFINITELY do it yourself but if you dont want to deal with it.. try etsy or private designers.

I was able to get my menus for .85 each, programs for $1 and seating cards printed for 35 CENTS each! It really ended up being worth the money!

I did our table numbers (pics in Miss bio) using Photoshop, I just printed and framed them. Instead of escort cards, I typed out seating assignments in matching fonts to our stationary and put them in 4x6 frames that were displayed on the table inside the entrance. We had 9 frames with about 8 listings on each one.

If you have the time and think it will be fun, by all means, tackle them yourself.  I like the idea of tying in the place cards to your overall them and maybe combining them with the favors (if you are doing favors).  We used sea stars with attached name tags for our escort cards.  I bought the paper at the Paper Source, trotted across the street to Kinkos to have them cut to size, then my mother handwrote the names and table names (in her gorgeous Catholic school script!).  I made the programs myself using Word, then printed at Staples.  The programs definitley took longer than I expected, but it was still a lot of fun.  GL!

We ordered programs from MapleMountainDesigns on etsy.com and paid slightly less than the quote you got from the Paper Source.  With shipping it probably came out the same or slightly more than your quote.  You can see a pic in my bio under Venue + All the small things, but basically they had a cover and insert page (4 pages of printing), were bound with a ribbon, and had a placard on the front with our names and dates.  I'm not explaining this well, but they came out beautifully and the etsy vendor did a wonderful job with the design.  She was fabulous to work with, and I didn't have to do the printing work!  Her website is:

If you are looking for an economic place to get them printed, try 123print.com. That's what I'm doing!

The only reason to print things yourself is if you have a laser printer. Inkjets use too much ink to save you any money.

Also, I'm doing my programs on recycled paper. I don't care if they match the rest of the stationary, and the guests will more than likely be throwing them out afterwards anyway. One thing you can think about if you want to be a little more green is getting the paper that has seeds embedded into the paper that guests can plant after the reception.

i did them all myself in word.  it really wasn't so bad.  and i had 200 guests.  my biggest advice would be to start well in advance.  and definitely use a paper cutter or else you'll go insane.

these were my seating cards. they were supposed to have an orange ribbon on the left side, but i had the flu the week before my wedding, so i never got around to that part.

    these were my programs:

if you like the programs, feel free to send me your email in a private message and I'll email you the word template
