Dress Fears!

So... on the upside.. my trainer weighed me in today. I am officially down 13 pounds.. and I have lost 9 inches overall from head to toe.. In particular- I lost a couple at the chest, a couple more at the waist and nearly four on the hips.

On the downside- my trainer is worried that I may be nearing the point where itll be difficult t take in my dress. I am planning to call the bridal shop in the morning when they open but I mean.. at some point a dress cannot be shrunk down any more right?!

I would not be too worried - I lost over 20lbs and more than 10" or so and they were able to take in my dress enough - I'm going for my 2nd fitting on Saturday so I will know for sure, but I think you'll be safe!

10 pounds is approximately 1 size, so you should be ok. )

Are you planning on losing more weight?  If so, be careful.  I lost about 30 lbs after I bought my dress.  It couldn't be altered correctly so I had to get a new one.  10 lbs or so isn't a huge deal.  But it can depend on the style and details of your dress.

Like jenvalet said, it really depends on the cut and details on your dress.  I would talk to a seamstress and see how much they think it can be altered.  My seamstress basically rebuilt my dress- but it didn't have a ton of beading (and wasn't lace) so it was easier to alter.

Yea mine HAS beading but its a Maggie Sottero and the dress shop claims the beading piece can be removed, the dress chopped down and then everything reassembled... uck.

My SIL went from a size 16 when she bought her dress to an 8 on her wedding day, her dress was altered perfectly. Don't worry!
