Hair and make-up

I am getting married out of town (well not in my hometown area) and I am wondering if calling hair salons and getting prices in the wedding sight area is sufficient or should I be visiting these salons and having face to face chats?
Any suggestions?

Well I think calling up and getting prices is a good start, find out who is in your price range and who isn't.  Are you available to meet these places and have trials?  That would be your best bet

I agree with pp - I wouldn't feel comfortable without having a trial. I live in DC and I made a few weekend trips up to Boston to take care of those things...May be worth it to work a few visits into the budget!

I definitely suggest going in for a trial before booking. I went to get my hair done with someone who gets RAVE reviews on here- and my hair turned out AWFUL! So bad that I had to go back and it was worse than when I left the first time, my hair was orange! Definitely see if you like your hair first!!
