Hi Knotties,
I'm getting married in September and I'm really trying to stay out of the sun this summer,but I don't want to look pale in my dress.
I'm debating whether I should go tanning in a tanning salon or get the airbrush tan
(done by a professional What have been your experiences?
Do the airbrush tans look fake- or even worse, rub off onto your dress?

Airbrush tanning is great.  I have had it done for other things and am having it done for my wedding.  I'm using Blush in Wellesley a few days before my wedding.

Edit:  It has never come off on my clothes and it didn't look fake.

I have gotten a st. tropez spray tan professionally done for about $30 and it is absolutely amazing how real and great it looks!! I plan to get one for every major event from now on!

I got a spray on tan at a Bridal Expo in Boston. They told me not to shower for a few hours, but the didn't say don't wash your hands. Needless to say it ran, and I looked like I had a skin disorder.

I LOVE airbrush tanning.  I have been to Perfect Tan in Allston and they have done a good job.  I suggest waiting over night to shower and yes, you shouldn't even wash your hands.  It rubbed off a little on my clothes, but not at all a big deal and I think it looks 100% real.  If you look at my wedding pics in my profile I had an airbrush tan then.

I plan on doing an airbrush tan before the wedding. My skin does not tan otherwise.  I just got one done tonight (I'm leaving for a trip tomorrow).  I went to A Different Concept spa in Medford. She did a great job. I've been to Perfect Tan in Allston as well. I think Medford did a better job as she was more precise and more specific in the tanning application. 
I definitely recommend doing it....it's a real looking even tan and doesn't rub off.

I used to work at a tanning salon that had spray tan and I absolutely loved it. Didn't look orange, didn't rub off or come out streaky. It was amazing. I plan on doing it again for my wedding. I go to Revere Tanning (CLICKY). Their website has coupons and locations, not all locations have the spray tan though! I have only done the spray tan at the Woburn, MA location (Washington Street, Cummings Park). I would recommend doing it once before the wedding to test it out though! And there is some prep work for your skin before you get it done. But I think it's very worth it. It's safe on your skin and looks great!

Definitely do not wait until a few days before the wedding to try the airbrush tan.  Now is the time to experiment!

Thanks for recommendation BooBoo, the guy I go to at Perfect Tan is leaving, so I would definitely try somewhere else!

I go to one in the Fenway area, it's a Versaspa (?) machine and I like it a lot better than the one at Perfect Tan in Allston. I feel like it comes out a lot more even and it dries you off after.
I had a problem with the spray tan once...I was walking home with flip flops in the rain and all the water splattered on my legs so I had a bunch of rain marks and streaks on the back of my calf. Also, I was carrying my purse on my arm right after and it left a mark on my arm.

So be careful for a few hours after you get it done!

Don't get an airbrush tan if  you plan on being in the ocean or pool within the next week or so (after you get it done).  It will fade and look really weird.  I have seen this happen to my friends so many times when we go on vacation.  Their skin looks like orange tie-die

My cousin is the co-owner of Advanced Airbrush Tanning in Woburn. It's on Winn Street, right off of 95/128. Her name is Michelle and she, as well as the other girls who work there, do an AMAZING job. It cost between $35-40, but is so worth it! Check out her reviews on Yelp and make sure to read up on what to do before you get sprayed so you look the best you can for your big day!
