dress is here, yay! except..

i had to special order my dress back in early december, AND ITS HEEEEERE. so so super excited, other than, i'm worried its an awkward length. its tea length, and has ribbon details along the bottom, so i don't think it could really be hemmed up, but i'm 5'3 and i'm worried that it doesn't hit the right length on me and looks too long. it might be in my head, but where exactly should a tea length dress hit on your legs?

I would say no longer than half way between your knee and ankle, particularly if you are on the shorter side.

If you take it to a good seamstress, there may be other options for shortening the dress and preserving the detail at the hem.   Good luck, I'm sure it will work out beautifully.

I agrree with pp, talk to a seamstress who works on a lot of wedding dresses, and I'm sure she will have suggestions about how to adjust your dress, if it needs it.

Expect to pay more for the hem, too. It's going to be more work for your seamstress.

Yay!  A good seamstress can work wonders.  I had a custom hem on my gown and my seamstress was able to bring it up a little for me.  I agree that halfway between your knees and ankles is a good length.
