She gets 8 weeks paid leave because she had an emergency c section (apparently they only get 6 weeks for normal birth), but wants to take longer. First it was 10 weeks (2 of them unpaid), now it's 12 weeks, and another teacher today hinted that she might just decide to take the rest of the year. While I'm excited about how much more money that is (we get a huge pay raise after 45 school days in a row for the same teacher), I still feel really unprepared :P 

Congrats on getting the long term job though! It's way better than day to day subbing, at least in my opinion, because after a week or so they finally stop seeing you as "just a sub" and start to listen a little better.
