Good Evening

Re: Good Evening

  • Night!! I'm so excited for you!

I'm watching the Real World. I hate Ashley.
  • If I have a cat someday, I want him to be like Gil.

All that's really left is printing programs, picking up the marriage license, and the rehearsal.  Gosh it is coming up fast.

  • Oh Ireland! That is what FI and I want to do eventually. We've looked into it a little. The flight over there costs more than the 1 week stays we've researched.

  • Night, make sure that you try to take in as much of the day as you can. I keep looking at wedding pictures and being like---Wow. Where did it all go?
Sarah - Are you doing dissertation this semester?
    Posted by Night_Sprite
One more major hoop before the dissertation, i.e., the major exam. In other words, sometime around mid-April I'm going to be on here screaming and crying about American art and the Hudson River School and bronze sculpture and how I am so stupid and I'm never going to finish studying.

Beatles, that joke is an oldie but goodie. :)

That sounds smart. I danced with my grandfather, and I had NO CLUE wtf he was doing, lol. But it made for great pictures because I was laughing so hard.

  • Sarah, your program sounds like mine. I had a discussion with my co-advisor about my bibliography for my major field exam today, and it was enough to make me give up here and now.

Things I've Learned in Grad School: In Medieval Icelandic Mythology, it was believed that dwarves ran around at night, throwing blankets on sleeping people and "riding them like horses."

I don't know what that means, I don't think it's clear from context, but I almost choked on my lunch when I was told that today.

The Hudson River School was a movement in American landscape painting that involved making lots of dramatic pictures of the Adirondacks, among other things.

FI isn't going to the Olympics, but we always knew that was a bit of a long shot. He placed tenth in the all-around at Nationals this year, so we're hoping that with all of the retirements that inevitably happen after an Olympic year, he'll move up in the ranks and maybe make some World Cup teams in the next year or so. I do know or know about pretty much all of the guys who are on the team, though, so if there are any controversies this year, as there inevitably are with speedskating, I will definitely have an opinion. :)

  • Hahaha Morfudd, that's awesome. I read some real doozies in the fall when I was studying for my minor in Roman art. Sometimes it sucks when you live alone, because when you come across a wall painting from Pompeii of a satyr with two giant penises, you just want to show it to someone.

I'm hoping that the major exam will be as entertaining.

  • Thanks for the info Sarah- I am un-art educated LOL.  I live near Hudson River so I asked.
I was wondering about the Olympics because my father is a journalist and covers skating at the Olympics.  Mostly Figure Skating but I think he does some speed also.  I would tell him to look out for your FI but hopefully in 2014.

Ah, I am the stupid one. It was Morfudd that posted that on the first page, and I either misremembered it or perhaps the Knot glitch diplayed the wrong sig. I think I will blame it on the Knot.

    Sorry to be confusing?

Hehehehe I will have to keep my eye out. It's always a possibility. And if not, there are all those art historians who write heavily Freudian articles about Thomas Eakins! I think what I'm saying here, is that I like it when my studying includes diick jokes.

Oh damn, I wish I could have taken credit for that then. :) That's my fault for not reading all the responses. But yes, blaming the knot is always the best way to go.
