wedding delay

Good morning all. We have decided to wait on the wedding this. With 60 days till we were suppose to get married, what is the correct way to let our guests know without a lot of questions? :)

Have you sent invitations yet? Did you send save the dates?

  • this is why STD's are bad becuase you now will have ot send something to everyone on your guest list, whereas if you hadnt done them, you wouldnt have even issued invitations yet and you wouldnt have to do anything formal.

as such, you should mail out a card that simply says smething to the effect that the wedding of x and y has been postponed.  if you have the date, you can include the new date.

  • I am so sorry I thought I said our wedding was in about 60 days. Invites have been sent out, everything paid for. How do I make sure to let our friends and family know in a correct manner. :) I want to make sure to do it correctly.
  • Thank you all, I will do this right away and call all out of town guests. I just wanted to be ok with how I do it. I really appriciate this all.
  • Just want to say thank you. We sent out invites months ago and just decided to wait a while longer.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: wedding delay : STDs aren't bad.  This makes no sense.  What if she had sent the invitations and then decided ten days later that they need to postpone?  Most of your response is BS.  OP, mail out something that says "The wedding of Jim and Jane has been postponed."

I guess it doesn't really matter, but I'm curious as to why you sent your invitations out so long ago. If you were planning an early Sept wedding, they should have been going out now at the earliest.

  • Invites were sent out early because we were going to be married the 1st of Sept which is part of a holiday for most people. We at the time wanted to give people a good heads up so if they could rearrage their vacations and or such the better. I called everyone this morning, all the 50 people per say really 25 plus the ones and told them, we got a lot of greatness with them such as we totally understand and its your guys relationship and if it's best to wait then we are 100% behind both of you. We are not, NOT going to be together, we are just waiting to get married for a bit.

  • Glad it worked out well.

Check your venue contracts carefully to see if deposits will be refundable, or if you can get your money back from your caterer, florist, baker, etc.  You may be able to work soemthing out if you re-book for  later date (though depending on the state of your relationship, you may want to wait before setting a new date), OR if someone else books for your orginal date.

  • We are not too worried about getting our money back to be honest our wedding was very inexpensive to say the least. I mean if we can't get it back it's ok we totally understand too. Everything else we were able to get somewhat of a refund back. I love that people are very supportive and understanding these days. :)

    This is a good reason/use for STD's.
