Re: For all of you going gaga over the upcoming Royal Wedding

  • YES!

I'm totally staying up for this. I have no shame.
  • I'm waking up early too Birdie!
  • I'm sure I will be up for it also. I do not have to be at work until 3pm that day.  Might as well watch it live.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Yeah, come hang out on the RW board this week!

  • Lifetime played Charles and Diana's wedding on Sunday night pop-up video style. I couldn't tear my eyes away even though I felt weird watching it because I know how the whole thing ended. I'm jealous FI has Friday off but at least I have a tv in my office and can watch highlights or something.
  • I'm going to a baseball game Thursday night and am planning on taking Friday off of work, so I"m still trying to figure out if I'm just going to stay up or if I'm going to get up early. :)
  • I really can't wait to see her dress.  I would be more excited if William didn't get so freaking FUG these past few years.

  • I just don't see Kate as an encrusted with diamonds type.  I think she'll wear something glassic and elegant and no bling or beading.  Perhaps some lace.  It will be a ballgown.

  • Yeah, what happened to him? He went the way of his father, which is unfortunate.

  • He should have invested in hair plugs?  I don't know.  But he definitely is a man that needed his hair.

I looked at this yesterday and could barely contain myself. It is sad how rough the last few years have been for him.
  • I'm not going to watch it, but I can't wait to see her dress.

And I agree.  Harry lucked out in taking after his mother.  Wills got Charles' genes -- not a good thing.

  • I can't wait to see how gawdy it's going to be. Charles and Diana's wedding was gawdy to the 10th power. However, Kate has good style IMO so I"ll be interested to see how much influence she has. Really, I just want to see her. Her dress, her hair, everything. William is ugly now. And seems like kind of a goober.
  • Totally agree on the fug factor.

And I won't be getting up early, but I did just set the DVR!

  • Birdie I have to stop staring at your sig pic and being all giddy with cuteness because it distracts me from posting. It may just be the cutest pet pic EVAR. And yes I'm now obsessed with your dog. Deal. :)

  • Anna-- Do you go to gofugyourself often? I LOVE that website. I'm not particularly fashionable all the time, but their blog posts make me laugh out loud.

  • Yeah, Musical. I read it almost every day. They are hilarious. I'm excited about the YA book they have coming out in June.
  • Ohhh me too! My friend and I even compete with brackets during their Fug Madness. We both hate basketball so it makes March more entertaining. :) I won last year, but he beat me this year.

  • I only think ballgown because it's a royal wedding.  Otherwise, I'd have her in a grecian type or a mermaid (but not a frilly puffy one).

  • Don't worry I'm obsessed too.

But do you want to see something EQUALLY as cute??

  • I'm setting the DVR. I think it will be much more subdued than Charles and Diana's wedding. For Kate, I'm thinking long sleeves, perhaps lace, in a mermaid/trumpet style with a modest neckline. Yes, definitely lace.

OMG SO CUTE. The puppies started squealing a bit and Tory started running around looking for the other dogs she could hear, haha. :)

  • It will def have sleeves.  It has to.  She's getting married at the Abby.  The sleeves will be lace for sure.

Royal etiquette bans the use of Rogaine? To me it looks worse because he could afford to at least try to do something about the hair loss or get a different haircut to make the loss look less noticeable/tragic.

  • I've heard rumors that after they are married, she has to be called Catherine from now on, even by the press AND William. Anyone know if that is true?
    image
  • I heard she will be called Catherine when/if she is Queen, but I don't know about right after the wedding.

Ah, I guess that makes more sense. Either way though, I think it would be weird that even William couldn't call her Kate. I mean, would people really police that when they are in private? Seems a little silly.

  • Yeah, I'm sure he can still call her Kate. I'm sure the Queen Mother still called her husband Bertie even after he became George VI.
