renewal ceremony

Hi ladies! Does anyone know if a vowel renewal has to be the same month you were originally married? I know it probably makes more sense, but is it a MUST that it be the same month and around the same date? There seem to be a lot of "rules" to follow for renewal ceremonies but I haven't seen anything about dates though. Thanks!

I got up this morning, feeling a little down, I decided to bring up this thread for a good giggle.  This was awesome ladies, y'all should get together and do stand up!  I personally would buy a ticket!

  • I think the point is that vow renewal ceremonies can be quite touching (i.e. "I'd still do it all the same") when they're not about a PPD and being an AW. For instance, when my ILs renewed theirs at 30 years, it was a complete surprise to MIL. FIL just got up at church the Sunday closest to their anniversary and asked her up front. They were both in normal clothes and the pastor just said a few words and asked them to say their "I do"s again. That was it, and it was incredibly sweet since FIL's romantic gestures are few and far between (but grand when they happen, apparently).

A year or two after the original wedding, with a white ballgown and a wedding party and all the frills, though? I really, intensely dislike those because they're not about love and commitment but about showing off and pretending to get married. Like kids playing dress-up.
