XP: "And Guest"?

I'm sure this topic has been handled on this board many times: I have some single friends who are not dating anyone seriously. We are about to send out our invitations. Need we include "and guest" on these friends' invitations? I suppose that, between now and October, if any of them starts seeing someone seriously and wants to bring him to the wedding, she can ask me.

1 - invitations go out between 6 and 8 weeks before the event so you've got at least a month before you need to worry about this.

2 - if they are single when the invitations go out, you're fine to invite them alone.  If they start dating someone in the 6 weeks before your wedding and you know it's serious, issue them a verbal invitation to "bring Johnny with you" if you want to.  No one can fault you for not inviting someone who didn't exist (in a social contract sort of way) at the time invitations went out.

It is up to you as to whether you want to give them a plus one.  If you have room in your budget it is always nice to extend the plus one option to your guests, but if you don't have room it is not rude to not give them the option either.

As long as you know that they are truly single then you are fine either way.

If you think they'll be uncomfortable without being able to bring a guest, and if you have room in your budget, give them a plus one.  If they are friends and will have fun together, then just invite them alone.

Good point, starael: these three guests are all co-workers and also friends, so they'll have a great time together without dates.
